I went down to check on her last week and she was all curvy...something desirable in women, but not plants. It looked like she was doing the Watusi. Out came the shop light and I switched on the lever and voila...she turned to me and whispered where are my sunglasses? 
This poor thing was started with another seed, but alas the other didn't sprout. Before I knew it she had grown so tall and spindly...I wondered if I should cut her in half...ouch! I asked the question and some of you said no.
Her leaves started to sprout. Teensy, tiny ones at first. I'm wondering now...hmmmm will her stalk support heavy leaves? Only time will tell. I went down this morning to take her picture. The first is without a background of white. Ava looked at me and said in her little plant voice, "I'll never show up in the picture." So I grabbed the nearest thing and put it behind her so she will show up. There, that's better. Now, I was checking the leaf situation and decided that she was big enough for a first haircut. A trim you might say. See that top leaf? The shiny light green one?This hurts me more that it hurts you, Ava....snip! I have always hated pruning or thinning plants. Just when they start getting showy...snip!
Now the leaf is gone and Ava may start to stop getting so tall. Maybe she'll branch out. Maybe she'll just fade away. Shut my mouth...It may bring bad luck. Tomorrow she will get fed. Oh, boy, Miracle Grow. She will probably get so big...that I will not be able to get her out of the basement. Only time will tell.Balisha :)
