A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Something New to Me

Just thought I'd share something new to me. First I'll tell you the why of it..My eyes have been giving me some trouble...I read a lot, on the computer, and the glare from the sun doesn't help matters.I have always loved to be read to. I remember my Dad reading  me a book before he went to work. We'd sit in the big overstuffed chair or I would lie on the floor...and read just one short book. Uncle Wiggley was dad's favorite...  the Just So stories, Robinson Crusoe , as I grew older he read Edgar Allen Poe, and Jack London books. ( I think these last authors were more for Dad than me.)He always was so animated when he read...taking on the voices of the characters, as he talked.Later I enjoyed listening to the radio and hearing fairy tales, I'm a big radio fan...love listening to book reviews and snippets of books on different programs. I would enjoy story hour at the library as much as the kids. So remembering about my love of being read to... I thought that I might give books on cd a try. First I had to order a Walkman. This was really easy...I had one before...so I knew what I wanted. Then I had to choose a book. I've been hearing so much about the movie...The Book Thief, so that was the first one that I ordered.  Susan Branch talked about  about the book....Elizabeth's German Garden, so that was the 2nd. They arrived just the other day and this morning was the first time for me to" listen" to a book.I woke early this morning and decided to give it a try. I can't tell you how much I'm going to enjoy this. I can still hear the noises around me...even with the ear buds in....so I will be able to hear Joe.I won't be listening to books all the time. I love the feel of a book in my hand as I slowly turn the pages. So glad I found this new thing.

Today is 17 below...and the bird feeders are covered with snow. A little chick a dee just visited and thought it was too much work to get down to the seed...so he moved on to better places.Maybe my friend Betty, up the road, has her's filled and ready. Right now finches and sparrows are hanging on for dear life as they move around the edges of the feeder....eating the seed that is uncovered. They turn their little heads toward the window as if they are looking in at me and wondering why I don't come out to help them.

Looking down at my keyboard, I think of yesterday, when I tipped it up and tapped it gently on the desk. Oh, my, the crumbs and dust that fell out. I can see my keyboard better now since I moved the desk around so the glare wouldn't hurt my eyes. I hadn't cleaned it for quite a while.. Shocked me.

Guess I had better get going and get on with my day.Remember hiding under the covers with a flash light reading a book?  That's where you may find me reading The Book Thief  today :)

I read both of those a few years ago, and they are both very good. I think you will enjoy them.

I am really enjoying The Book Thief. This is full of detail...which I love. Can't wait to see the movie...although movies are often not as good as the book.

I want to take my time and not rush into Elizabeth's German Garden. I may share this one with my friend Elizabeth...She is from Germany and might like it.
