A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Frosty Morn...Brrrrr!

I took a picture of our frosty door this morning and then played with it a bit...with the streaks going up like fireworks. It's -18 right now, bright and sunny... and our world here in Byron has stopped for just a day. Everything is closed and we are homebound, I took the Christmas decorations down yesterday while Green Bay lost the game. All that complaining and procrastinating....and the job wasn't too bad. I'm going to clean a bit today and put some things out to make it more colorful around here. I put on my red sweatshirt jacket and Joe said, "Where are you going?" Guess I should dress up a little more.
I'm going to bake some cookies today. Oatmeal raisin cookies. I remember visiting Joe's dad in the nursing home and him asking if I could bake these cookies. He was telling me how to do it....by adding a little olive oil to the mix. Now, I hadn't ever used olive oil before and this "Sicilian" way of baking cookies was new to me. I bought the mildest tasting olive oil and made the cookies. We took them over to him and he ate one bite and he said, "They taste like olive oil...pfftt (spitting it out)."Very hard man to please....I haven't used olive oil in cookies since. We like a soft and chewy oatmeal cookie and I've yet to find one that stays that way...so I'm using a new recipe today. I remember grandma's being soft, but maybe she didn't make as many and they got eaten quickly.
Joe's therapist will be here soon...so I have to go and get his breakfast. He's doing just great...yesterday walking so straight while pushing the walker ahead of him. The incision sight is looking good. Won't be long and I'll have to tie him down to keep him at home  :)
Back later with more....

We were at -14 this morning with more than a foot of snow on the ground. We took the tree down yesterday as well. I was rooting for S.F. and Andrew for G.B.! Stay warm and enjoy the baking.

Best,
Bonnie

Oh...this weather is something, isn't it? Our floors are so cold!! Baking sounds like a warm and cozy thing to do today. You inspired me when you said you were going to add some color now that the Christmas decorations are down. I usually keep my winter decor pretty bland and now I'm wondering why I do that!!

Now I have to get moving. Stay warm. And this is great news about Joe!!

XO,
Jane

I had me some Oatmeal Raisin cookies tonight. I bought them however--love them. Next step for Joe, walking with a cane. It will happen real soon!
