Advent is a quiet time of prayer.
We become more introspective during Advent.
While being prayerful...we prepare our homes and minds for the birth of Jesus.
Keeping Christmas simple is our goal. Let's relax and not get caught up in all the modern trappings of the season. Take time to go to Church, if you wish, enjoy the music of the holiday, buy simple gifts....or better yet give more handmade things, simplify your baking....why not a couple of good cookies instead of wearing yourself out making so many, dress in comfort, share with friends, take a nap, read some poetry and the Christmas story, breathe, and most of all enjoy and cherish your family.

Everything looks beautiful.
Very seldom in church at this time mainly for health reasons, many steps, big parking lot. Not like in the past when the local church was very small and easy to get inside.
Miss the hymns, so I turn the Bose and listen to music, I hum,
I sing and as always I am in
continual prayer and thankfulness.
Balisha, you are a blessing to
so many...
Good advice, Balisha. I am working hard to achieve most of those things.
I love the nativity scene in your second picture. I love church at this time of year--especially the hymns of my childhood, the candles, the glowing, golden tree and the little children so excited. Advent is a time of anticipation for me. Thinking how cold and dark the world was then, and now, and how the Birth of our Savior has saved us all with His love. thank you Balisha!
I agree with you on relaxing. We spend so much time running around looking for the "perfect" gift that we forget about the people. God bless you and your family this Christmas season and beyond!
This is a beautiful post about this special season. My husband and I enjoy walking Main Streets in local towns that are all decorated for the season, without feeling the need to buy anything but to take in the sights and sounds. We may stop for a hot cup of coffee, too:)
