A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Cup of Christmas Cheer

Come and share
a pot of tea.
My home is warm
and my
friendship's free.
~Emilie Barnes~

Today, Christmas Eve day, finds me wanting to do one more Christmas thing. I love Christmas tea, so I'm off the store for the ingredients.Years ago, I used to make jars and jars of this and sell it for the holidays. Here are the ingredients:
2 1/2 cups of Tang
1 1/2 cups of Country Time Lemonade
1 1/2 cups of unsweetened instant tea
1/2 cup of sugar
3 tsp pumpkin pie spice
You whisk these ingredients together and put in decorative jars. I used to cut out a circle of calico fabric with pinking shears and put on top of the jar with a rubber band around to hold it. Then a bit of Christmas ribbon for decoration over the rubber band. I loved making labels for these little jars. I decorated manila shipping tags with a Christmas stamp on one side and the recipe on the other.
When finished mix about 2tbs in a cup of hot water and then sniff...You will tickle all your senses with this steaming cup of tea. A sweet, spicy, hot treat for a cold afternoon along with a ginger cookie...sheer Heaven.. I'm not making this for gifts this time, but to comfort myself during this special season. If company comes knocking at our door...they will be treated to a cup of Christmas cheer.

Merry Christmas Eve to you! I'm trying to get caught up on your posts after seeing you mentioned at Debra's. I remember this tea...somewhere along the way we called it Russian Tea, not sure why. I love the little labels.

Today is very busy but I wanted to stop by...maybe I fell off the Follower list, I'll check. So Merry Christmas to you and Joe and your whole family!

Blessings,

XO,
Jane

Hi Jane...It was called Russian Tea. It was changed to Christmas, because no one knew the why of the "Russian." I like the name better now...Have a happy holiday.

I am thinking for the next big family get together...either make it on new years day or for some valentines day children-oriented party :)
