A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Labor Day and Grumbling

So glad that August is over and September is here. This means that a season is going by the wayside and I for one will be glad when summer is gone this year. It has been the worst summer of my life with losing my son and deaths of friends and acquaintances...and bad news for relatives. They say that bad things come in threes, but three has been passed a couple of times.

The weather was pretty good this summer...just needed more rain. My flowers started out earlier this year but now are right on target. The mums are just opening and the late ones are showing buds. The purple aster is in buds too. My orders for plants have been waiting till this month. They will be shipping soon.
I was out in the fog this morning...walking in the dewy grass...waiting for the sun to burn the fog off. I loved the coolness of the morning and took a few pictures that I will show during the coming week.

I walked around the  house surveying the gardens to see what could be cut back. It's going to be such a big job...fall cleanup this year. Joe can't help, so I guess it falls on me. Baby steps...a little at a time. I don't want to go through another winter with my back hurting. I've learned my lesson and will just do a few things a day. Think I'll make a list of what needs to be done and check off each job as I complete it. That's what I've been doing with annual housework the last couple of weeks and it has worked well. Things need to be thinned out too, but maybe I'll just leave things and see what plants take over. Who's the boss, so to speak.

We are spending a quiet Labor Day weekend. Joe is having back pain and going to the doctor for that...so he has to rest a lot. The two parties last weekend really did him in. He wanted to go to both and so we did and it involved many miles of driving and sitting.

This is sounding like Kathy and Judy's Merry Medical Christmas to me.  Kathy and Judy were on WGN Chicago radio a few years ago. This was a yearly feature, where the girls read actual Christmas letters that described aches, pains, medical treatments and other stuff that people would send out for Christmas.  WGN decided that they wanted to attract a younger listening audience...so they let many of the regulars go and hired some young guys to take over. Well, women were in an uproar...no Kathy and Judy??? Unthinkable, but try as we might, they lost their jobs...Now WGN has seen the light and they have found that their listening audience is getting smaller...that calls for drastic measures in radio. Kathy and Judy will be back on Saturdays...and I am so pleased. So, when I compare this post to Merry Medical Christmas...you'll understand.I don't mean to complain...but this is such a convenient way to vent. Instead of being with an actual listener...I can complain and if you want... you can hit delete. Wouldn't you love to be able to do that to some acquaintances that you have? Be truthful now...

Well, today will be tacos or steak...depending on the weather.I'm going to straighten up the kitchen cupboards and do a little me stuff.
Have a great day ....(after my grumbling)

Sometimes, it good to get all the grumbling gathered together at once so you can focus on other stuff sooner.
Take care with the cleanup and a little at a time is how I go because I never have big blocks of time anymore.

Isn't that the same reason I love blogs and posting on my own. I always have had a better communication with others through the written word, then the verbal word. As for the clean-up--"inch-by-inch, anything's a cinch!"

A little grumbling now and then is good for us. A person doesn't need to be goodness and light all the time ~ that's not real life. You are smart to take the garden work a bit at a time. What gets done will get done:)
