A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

How the Little Garden Changed in One Year

I took a walk around the yard last evening and took some pictures. It's amazing what a difference a year can make. This is my Mary's Garden just last year in August. The plants were pretty much just starting out.
The pictures below are from last night. Look how everything has grown. The hosta to the right of middle had flower stalks about 6 ft tall. The bright green hostas are doing well in this full sun location. I do have to keep them watered and have a hose nearby, with small sprinkler attached to it. I water it about every two or three days...if we don't have rain.
Here it is going around to the side. I really like the purples and chartreuse together. The hummingbirds love this garden...and a little toad lives under the hostas too.Every time I put the sprinkler on...he comes out for a shower.

Here we are for a back view. You get a better feeling for where this little garden is. Notice the lovely green chair sitting under the ash tree. It's where I sit sometimes while the sprinkler does it's thing.

Here's a tiny birdbath that I found at Merlin's in Oregon. I saw it in the corner of their garden area and another lady was looking at it too. I stood back and hoped she didn't buy it...She put it down and the price was right and home it came...perfect for my Mary's Garden plans growing in  my head.
This just shows how something can change in just a year's time. Before that, our river birch was removed and this place was bare. We were thinking about an evergreen planting of some sort...and then this idea popped in my head. I remember Bryce coming over and helping me remove the hostas, when the tree came down. We both had such a struggle that we left a couple of them and hoped that I could plan my garden around them. it worked out so well...people now tell us that it looks so much better than it did with that huge tree standing there. Our gardens balance now.

Today looks a bit cloudy out. I  have no concrete plans. Joe's 1st wife died on this day and he is on his way to the cemetery.. to put flowers on her grave. We had a homily in Church about taking care of our families graves...to show respect. It was mentioned that visiting graves is for the living...a way to show that you remember. Some in my family aren't buried in a cemetery..so where do I go to remember? I remember some in my garden, some by a fishing lake, some near a forest preserve, and even some in my kitchen.  My remembering of a loved one is in my heart and I'll always have it with me... no matter where I'm at..

Time does make a difference in many things.

Your Mary garden is really lovely and I love the purples and chartreuse colors too. Next year the garden will be even fuller and more lovely.

I liked this statement of yours.

Have a lovely week dear Balisha.

Your little garden is no longer little. It is lovely. By next year it will have filled in even more and you may have to think about dividing some of the plants.

I just saw the mention of your son’s death in the side bar.
I am truly sorry; may all your memories of him be sweet.

This "little garden" has grown so much, so that like Friko said...next year we may have to divide some things. When we plant hostas...we don't realize how big they will get. Some of these were the smaller varieties...but they still have grown bigger than I was told.
thankyou all for your heartfelt comments.

Your garden is lovely. The little bird bath and St. Mary statue really have a beautiful place.
In your heart is the best place to carry those memories.

It's so good that you have that before picture to compare. That was a beautiful way to fill the space.

You have such an eye for what and where to plant, even how to place sculptures ~ it's a beautiful garden.
