Happy Earth Day everyone....let's strive to take better care of our planet. Speaking of that...A McDonald's restaurant recently opened in our town. Ever since...the road to our neighborhood has been littered with paper cups, bags, napkins etc.You can just see how long it takes to eat a hamburger and fries, by the pattern of paper trail along the road. No litter for a couple of miles...then all of a sudden lots of litter. People just toss the bags out their car window on their way home to our neighborhood.The river near town is receding and along the bank of the river, by the bridge...you can see paper litter from McDonald's where the water has gone down. This never happened before this fast food restaurant opened. It looks like our neighbors might be some of the culprits. They live in these upscale houses and toss their litter on the road. Couldn't people just keep it in their cars for another mile or so? If we all do our part to keep our neighborhoods tidy...what a wonderful clean world this would be.

I thought I would put the pattern here for the very simple Potato Chip Scarf that I showed yesterday. Depending on the yarn...these can look very dressy or plain. One of the variegated yarns works up so pretty. I've done a purple, and a blue one...in the yarns that are self striping. As you can see it involves lots of turns. You have to develop your own rhythm for knitting this scarf.
Potato Chip Scarf
You need 200 yds. of a worsted weight yarn.
size 9,10, or 11 needles
Cast on 20 stitches
Row 1.knit 8, turn, knit back to beginning.
Row 2.knit 6, turn, knit back to beginning
Row 3. Knit 4, turn, knit back to beginning
Knit across all 20 st.
Repeat these rows until desired length is reached. End off.

Balisha..it's so upsetting to see trash along the hiway. I was so amazed at how little of it I saw when I visited Connecticut and New Hampshire..and even Maine. Nothing like California.
I, personally, think it starts from childhood..as a tiny little thing in kindergarten I learned very young not to throw things onto the streets or anywhere else.
It was taught even in our high school in the 1959's. No janitor picked up our trash. WE, the students did the cleaning up if any was needed. It never was. However, the campus was policed anyway.
I just wanted to thank you for your precious support during these terrible days. It seems to come in huge waves.

Hi Balisha...It is absolutely amazing to me that some people can just throw trash out the window. I pick up trash along the road in front of our house all the time.
People need to keep litter bags in their cars and use them. Simple as that!
