A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

The Mating Dance

The Mating Dance by Balisha

Early in the morning.. I heard a familiar sound..
I searched for what was calling and looked upon the ground.
A pair of Mourning Doves were scratching at some seed..
I thought.." My feeder's are so full...there isn't any need.
To scratch and peck and find some seeds that had fallen to the ground..
My feeder's full above them....if they would turn around."
Just then they hopped up on the rail...it seems they read my mind..
They looked at me and tipped their heads and murmured you're so kind.
They went about their business.. ducking and bobbing  while they fed..
The cardinal came to feed and tipped his pretty head.
And then as I was turning round the male made his move...
He nuzzled Mrs. Dove... and then put on his groove.
He strutted so and dipped his head and then she nuzzled back..
They were oblivious to things around... while they made their cooing sound.
I peeked at them and watched their moves and thought I was being rude..
To see these birds so happy ....I really couldn't intrude.
I thought a while and turned away... I knew that I could see...
These birds were wanting to be alone... and have some privacy.
So if you see a pair of birds... doing  the mating dance...
Just mind your business and turn away and give the birds a chance. :)

Lovely post! We have lots of these flying around at the moment. Three of them were reared in our garden and come back each year. Three as the fourth was attacked by a hawk. We can feed them by hand! You can tell spring is coming because of the cooing! Chel x

i love writing simple poems. They just come to me while I'm sitting here. No preparation before I sit here to write them.
Ernestine...I feel about the same...really haven't given the anti biotic time to work I guess. Thankyou for your lovely email...nice to know that someone cares.
