A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Reading Material is Taking Over Our House

Reading material is taking over our house. There is so much in the mail that needs to be read.....much of it could be tossed. I am the catalog queen. I keep the post office busy with trips to our mailbox...and filling it with important :) stuff. I feel that it is my duty to help them stay in business. If I am the queen... Joe is the king :) Every so often a book comes in the mail for one of us. I order used books from Amazon and we both might order a book that we hear about on TV, This is a favorite winter past time for us.... books to order and read. We have book shelves in the computer room, guest bedroom, living room, breakfast nook, mudroom and the dining room. I go through my books periodically and donate them...but Joe hangs on to everything he's ever read.....thus filling up the majority of shelving. We both have so many interests, so I guess this is the reason for so many books. I went through my books just last month. I have books on religion, gardening, art, needlework, novels, poetry, and cookbooks. I came to the conclusion that another bookcase is needed, so I began a search on the internet. I wanted one that was a certain size , no assembly needed, collapsible, and in a dark oak. Can you believe it?...I found one. I clicked that "add to cart" faster than you can say Jack Robinson. It is on the way to our house, as I speak. I had a similar one before and really liked it. You can put them just about anywhere. It is made of heavy wood and the shelves hold many books without sagging. No assembly is a bonus for us...we don't like to bother putting things together anymore. Enough of that in the past. I'm going to put it on the wall behind my rocker...by the double glass doors in the breakfast nook. It will be filled with gardening books, bird books, and poetry books. A perfect spot to sit and watch the birds and look up some bird information at the same time.I have hopes that this will get rid of some of the clutter around our chairs. We call Joe's chair the "command center" He has everything in easy reach. My favorite spot to sit just has some books and magazines there. I admit that I constantly annoy him by having to ask him to pass the scissors, tape, pen, ruler and on and on. How did this bookcase post turn into a discussion of his chair?? I guess it just goes hand in hand....when reading material is taking over the house.Today will be a fun day...I'm in the mood to clean cubby holes, drawers, bookshelves, closets...whatever comes my way. I'm fixing a nice dinner (chicken breast, and roasted veggies) and will dream up a snack for us....but first I have to get to the library and see if that used book by Kahlil Gibran is still there on the sale cart.

PS...I was just reminded, by a comment, magazines! There are a couple of out of print magazines that I have saved maybe 10 yrs. of issues.I have stopped buying them, but I do have a couple of subscriptions to garden and country living. I go through these all the time and send them on to a neighbor or my daughter-in-law, Joe has subscriptions to a couple of magazines too.

LOL! Here it is the piles and ring book notebooks filled with magazines or cut out gardening articles. I had so many crafting books and magazines around here after so many years of crafting and selling them. Since I do not do them anymore I forced myself to thin them out and toss them. It was hard though. LOL! The books I can never get rid of though so they keep piling up.
