A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Up Before the Sun

Thought I'd show what the woods looked like last year at this time....:(
I was out before the sun came up this morning. Yesterday about did me in...that sun was so hot and it didn't cool off in the evening. Grumble, grumble that's what everyone sounds like this year. I started watering the tomatoes and then did some repair work on those heavy plants. They needed propping up, so that the tomatoes don't rest on the ground. So, I walked up to the garage and got another tomato cage and put it right next to the plant that was having the problem...and tied the branches to the new cage. I cut off some of the leaves on the bottom and it looked much neater and that little rascal chipmunk won't be nibbling my tomatoes. I caught sight of the little scamp as I rounded the house to go in the garage again. There he was...digging in my pot with the tiny rose grown from seed. He found some cucumber seeds in there a few days ago and still thinks they are there. I chased him away and patted down the soil again. I put tiny pebbles all over the tops of the pots to discourage just that...guess my plan didn't work. I put the little roses in the flower bed by the driveway still in their pots. I guess when this heat breaks, I'll have to put them in the ground.Going back to the backyard, I decided to turn the sprinkler on in the new garden. Going around the corner I trimmed up the chives and the parsley and gave the thyme a little trim too. I picked two pockets full of grape tomatoes and went back to my watering. I noticed that fallen bird seed had taken root and was growing nicely under the feeder. I pulled it all out and continued on. I was headed to my chair and a glass of ovaltine that was sitting there by the tomatoes. Sitting down, I could see the sun coming up....a red sky in the east. The birds were fighting over the newly filled bird bath.....robins. There's an elusive bird in our yard right now. Cedar Waxwings...I can hear their distinctive high whistle.Just one long sad note. This morning it's in the ash tree. They can blend into a tree and I can look forever, it seems, before I'll spot it. They come when the mulberry and choke cherry trees are full and ripe. I've never had one at the feeder. The doves are on the deck railing. The male has had some amorous intentions lately toward his "lady" He follows her around and pecks at her. Gives her a nuzzle and sometimes feeds her...then he does the deed. They are so funny and sometimes awkward. Silly male...doesn't he know it's too hot :) An ant goes by carrying a big crumb...much bigger than he is. I guess he's getting his work done early too. Well, the sun is up and I decide to wrap things up outside. I make sure the water is turned off and then walk out to the mailbox for the morning paper. I decide to take my cup and sit on the porch and read some of it. People are up and are starting their day. The men walk by and then the women...the same people everyday. We wave and I come into the house. Joe is still in bed I look at the clock...6:30 and I have already accomplished quite a bit. So here I am...at 7am typing my daily post. I sit here thinking....I wonder what the day will bring?

I wish I had the energy to get up so early and get out and about. I am up at 6:30 to get ready to go to summer school we call it Boost Start for kindergarten boy and girls... this year we have 14 boys and 3 girls... please pray for me!LOL It has been so hot the flowerbeds are a mess..and I have no interest to be out there working in them in this heat! School starts for us really early this year, Aug 13th is my first day back. Summer is just flying by too fast...

You are so ambitious! And so smart to get up and enjoy the best part of the day.

Wish I had some of your energy.

Sure looks beautiful. Because of heat, rain and beetles I would be ashamed to post what it looks like here :)

There is something wonderful about being one of the first up in the neighborhood. I think it's nice that you see the same people every day and you wave to each other.

The pic of your garden last year is nice, too. So neat and tidy.

Hi Lynn,
You have endless energy compared to me. Summer school and then schools start on the 13th and to top it off...the wedding and it's plans....You've hardly had a vacation this year. Take care and have a nice weekend.

Hi Marlu,
My energy is hit and miss. Some days I just can't accomplish what I want to. I guess it depends on my sleep the night before.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Ernestine...I wrote in my post that the picture I showed was taken last year. This year I'm not taking any pictures back there. It's so brown and dry. Hopefully next year we will be back to normal.
Keep cool this weekend.

Hi Zoey...I feel like our house and the flowers right around it could be called an oasis. The rest of it is brown and crisp. We just can't water it all...or we would be dragging the hose all day and night.
Keep cool,
Balisha
