A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Planting With My Little Friend

The day had arrived...the day to plant with my little neighbor Audra. I had an empty pot and she and I planned to put some flowers in it that we had bought while shopping in town. As you can see...there isn't much room in my yard for another container. I put this one right in the middle of my lilies of the valley (which are finished blooming) and close to the water source and pretty close to Audra's house. As the plants grow...we will see them better.

She ran over just before her supper last night and asked if I wanted to plant the flowers. She was so excited...I didn't have the heart to tell her that I was tired. I smiled and said, "Let's get er done."
I taught her how to carefully take the plant out of the pot and to rough up the roots at the bottom. I told her that planting a plant with the roots all in a circle would probably not grow big. She had just helped her Dad and brother plant their veggie garden...so she didn't really need a lot of help. She always says that it is more fun to garden with me. That old saying...the grass is always greener comes to mind...even in the young.

She knows that I have a problem with my back and have to sit in a chair to pull weeds and plant. She told me that she would be my bend over helper  :)

I wanted the pot to be simple for her and that's why we planted all the same plants and good sized ones too. I did, however, tell her about J. beetles and that they might just find these flowers tasty. We will have to both watch for them. I don't think that she will pick them off...we'll see.
She was struggling to attach the Miracle Grow Feeder to the hose. She said, "I never turn it right when I hook up the nozzle on the hose." I told her the little rhyme ....Righty Tighty...Lefty Loosey. She grinned at that, and as she left I heard her saying....righty tighty...lefty loosey.

That's very sweet of you to let her help.

She really helps me out, by running to the garage for a tool, bending down and picking things up, picking up sticks, etc. I don't like to take advantage of her, so we play a few games and have a few treats...she loves to play our organ. We are pals...and I hope that they stay in the house until she's grown. I would love to see she and her brother grow into adults.
