A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

My Story About Back Pain

I'm not receiving any compensation from Biofreeze for this blog post. I simply wanted to tell my story. I injured my low back a few months ago. I have been doctoring for this and have had some relief, but I still have a painful "catch" in my sacrum, when I get up from sitting in a chair or when stooping over to pick a weed. I didn't have this pain before I injured it...so I was hoping  that I could get back to old myself again...when the injury is taken care of. I've been to a point of just about giving up and thinking that I just have to accept the situation and deal with the pain everyday. Then I read on a few blogs about Biofreeze. When you are in pain so much of the time...you will grasp at straws and try most anything. I ordered  some Biofreeze that very day. I  have to say just a week and a half  later, I've had two days with almost no pain. I have used it religiously...four times a day. I love the cool feeling that it gives and after using countless ice packs I feel that the cold is more intense than those. I know that a lot of people, who are elderly, read my blog. You've all read about my giving up some tasks in the garden and how hard it has been for me to do so. Yesterday, I was out in the yard...and bending down a little...waiting for the pain....but it didn't come. I  am not going to overdo by gardening or riding in the car too far. I've been  hurting so long and I know the changes that pain have made in my life...so I wouldn't jeopardize my good feeling. I'm continuing to use this product and hopefully, next year, I can be able to do more things in the garden.....things that I love to do, but have put off for a while this year. I wrote this to maybe help someone else who is experiencing the same thing. It's what we seniors do...if we find a product that helps us in growing older...we should tell others about it. I hope that you find this post interesting.
This past weekend as we sat at Joe's son's house...they asked if we wanted to get in the hot tub. Now, normally, I would really enjoy this, but how in the heck am I going to get in the hot tub...hurting as I have been? Should I take a chance on that ladder of falling right now....just as I am feeling better? I think not. I looked at Joe and he looked at me. We don't like to complain to our kids or bore them with our tales...it's just that we want them to take a look at us...really look at the changes in our bodies. I think that they want to remember the Mom and Dad who used to run with them...play ball...sit on the floor and play board games...fly kites...chase after them. They don't want to think about the day when we won't be here.  Our kids just don't get it...we are old and have had to slow down. We have accepted that. We don't want sympathy or help. Right now...we can manage fine on our own. ..Aging is inevitable...We told Joe's kids as they sat there with wide eyes..."You young people are sitting there thinking that you will never get like this...maybe you are taking good care of your body, by exercising and eating right...to alleviate some of the age related problems. You will all get there someday...You will all grow old and have some health issues that involve pain. ...and we hope that there is someone there to listen and understand"

Here's  how it works....
Biofreeze is mostly used in cold therapy pain management. Biofreeze has the same impact on the body as an ice pack except it has the ability to infiltrate deeper into the muscle. Cold therapy is the process in which the area of an injury is cooled below the average body temperature. Since heat is known to increase blood flow to the area in which it is applied, cold does the opposite and reduces the blood flow to the affected area. This process, also referred to as cryotherapy, reduces the ability of your nerves to receive and send pain stimuli. The cold also works as a way to decrease the swelling in the affected area.

I realized the same thing, the kids just don't get it. I never used to understand either why older people seemed to move so slowly. However, then my 50 year old daughter had disc problems and now--she gets it, LOL. I am going to get me some of that Biofreeze for my lower back problems!!! thanks so much for posting about it.

Our daughter-in-law is a Physical Therapist and she recommended it to me. As I hurt all over, I told her I would have to bathe in it :) I did purchase a large tube to use on my foot and ankle for Plantar Fasciitis. I admit I have not been as diligent in applying it as you have, Balisha. The pain is worse. You inspire me to try it again and use it more frequently. Thanks for this post, Balisha.

Hi everyone...It seems that we gardeners share more than the love of gardening...we share a common ailment... back pain. I know that this isn't what is healing my back. Like my doctor said..."This will take time." I'm sure that it is time that is healing me...also resting it.Biofreeze is just something that is giving me comfort and relief. I wanted to share my experience with you so that you might find some relief too. Balisha

I understand where you’re coming from, Balisha. When you’re a kid, you think there’s no end to your youth. Problems that come with old age like back pains would be the last thing on your mind. But, it was nice that you tried to explain to them that one day they might go through the same situation. They’ll understand that you were not complaining but was going through a chronic health problem.
