What is Your Favorite Sandwich?

Can you tell that I haven't had breakfast yet? My mind is on food....any kind of food, but a sandwich in particular. I saw this picture while looking for something on the internet and it set my stomach juices rumbling. I think this may be my favorite sandwich. Nice smoky bacon, juicy slice of a beefsteak tomato (one slice fills the sandwich) and crisp iceberg lettuce.....all smeared with Hellman's mayo and served between two slices of a good crusty bread toasted. Oh, there goes my tummy again. Once in a while I have a sandwich for breakfast. It has all the ingredients for a balanced breakfast...I think. I have another version of this that I make once in a while. You take bread and toast it about half way. Fry some bacon until a little crispy and then put together this open faced sandwich. First lightly toasted bread, then a slice of American cheese, then tomato, then bacon and topped with a half slice of cheese. I put these on a cookie sheet and run them under the broiler until the cheese melts. My Mom used to pour the bacon grease on top of the sandwich, but I don't. This is a BCT sandwich. Now, I want to know what kind of bacon do you use? We have tried turkey bacon and really like the Oscar Mayer brand. It doesn't compare to the real thing, but it will do most of the time, but when we want a BLT or a BCT we want the real thing. Joe prefers thick sliced and I prefer thin. Does that make us Jack Spratt and his wife? Please comment on what your favorite sandwich is...I have to go now and make breakfast...I wonder what I'll have?

When I saw your title in the thing on my blog, I at once thought BLT. I love to make it with the bacon and a sharp cheddar together so the cheese softens some. Also, I love a little mayo mixed with the mustard.

Oh man...I may have to have one for lunch.

Grilled cheese with tomato and red pepper soup is also a favorite of ours.

Oh...what type of bacon? Any kind! I loves me some bacon. Turkey bacon is ok for breakfast, but for a BLT real bacon. I prefer thin bacon, too.

Hi Mitzi,
Thanks for reading and leaving a comment. I was so hungry when writing that post. I've never had peppered bacon, but it sounds good.Anything bacon sounds good to me. The aroma of bacon cooking is one of the best.

I'm a BLT lover, too. But, my mom's tuna salad sandwiches were a close second. Ummm, that photo is yummy looking.

My sandwich is so similar to yours and I like the thin Oscar Meyer
bacon. We are a lot alike :)

Hi Barbee...Tuna salad comes in 2nd with me too. I actually have it more than the BLT.I don't like the BLT's in the winter...I love them in the summer with home grown tomatoes.

Here we are again Ernestine...We do seem to like so many of the same things. The thin bacon cooks so nice without the curls and bumps that the thick type has. It cooks more even too. I used to order this when I went out to eat with my Mom. She would say, "For Pete's sake...you could have that at home." They were never as good as the ones she made at home.
