A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

My Day

It snowed over night...maybe two inches. When we got up..Bryce and Audra from next door were shoveling us out. It's so nice to have neighbor kids like that. They are so helpful and would do anything for us. I gave them each their envelope for Christmas and a couple of homemade cookies....the ones with a Hershey kiss on top.
Yesterday, before the snow, I went out and cleaned up the bird feeders. I hung the new lantern shaped one just outside the computer room. Then I put the feeder on the deck close to the house, so I wouldn't have to slide around on the deck...trying to fill it everyday. This way I can just reach around the corner and fill it. I decided to go back to the woods to dump the old seed from the feeders. While I was back there, I checked on a few plants. The Lamb's Ear is still really nice. I picked a few leaves to stamp with paint on a project I am working on. When I put my hand down to pick, I felt a nice warmth coming from the center of the plant. I put my hand down into the leaves and thought to myself, "How cozy and warm this place would be for a little animal." I noticed the brush pile and thought, "I wonder who is living in there this winter?" Moving on, I checked on the plants that I had transplanted in the fall. A scurrying sound caught my attention and my friend the squirrel ran up the tree and sat on the branch to watch. He had his new winter coat on. He sat there watching and wondering if I had anything to give him. He must remember when I had a few peanuts in my pocket for him...but not this time. I wondered if he would find the pile of old seed that I had just dumped. As I looked up the tree...I noticed a Cooper's Hawk at the very tip top. "Run away squirrel, someone has you in mind for lunch!" The Hawk stayed for just a minute and then took off. Maybe I saved the squirrel's life by being there just at the right moment. I turned and started for the house. I have one more Christmas present to make...and then the cookies need to be finished. Joe is gone today...so I have the whole day without interruption...maybe I'll get done...or maybe I'll just make myself a nice lunch and watch a cooking show....one of my favorite things to do.

I love 'stopping by' and reading your blog. You write in so much detail and I feel that I can see things in my 'mind's eye'. There's an award for you on my blog in England! You're under no obligation to accept it, I know how time consuming these kind of posts are, I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you write. Best Wishes, Jan

I worked out gardening yesterday. This weird weather had weeds popping up everywhere. The delayed snow here is spelling future disaster I think. :)
