A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

I Love the Color Purple in My Garden

I wrote a poem about this gorgeous aster and thought that I would repeat it this year. Here is is again...taking up the corner of this tiny garden. I love the fact that it welcomes people as they go by and when friends stop by. I have another in the back garden...and I think that I will separate it and put it back along the woods...in the border. I would love to see this vibrant plant from my back windows. It is such a favorite of the bees. I think that it deserves all this space in the fall. I have bulbs planted in among the stems, so they come up in the spring...instead of having a bare spot. That spot isn't bare for long, however, because the aster starts growing right away making a thick green mat in my garden of color.
Asters in My Garden

I had a little aster plant given once to me..
It wasn't very big you know and very hard to see.
I put it in my garden and waited through the year..
For it to blossom purple and bring me lots of cheer.
I waited through the summer.. gently taking care..
I saw it's every leaf that formed and every bud so fair.
Just when September came, and it was soon to pop..
I saw the plant so huge that it made me holler stop!
It had grown to such proportions this little plant of mine..
The plant had grown so much that I wrote this little rhyme.
It took the whole darn corner of my little garden fair..
The people walking by began to really stare.
It's out there now a stunner in my garden very small..
It towers over everything it is so very tall.
The bees and I will love it this little corner treasure..
My garden is so pretty now it's beauty without measure.

I have to go now...the birds are hanging on my screen, covering the top of the Cranberry Viburnum, and the feeder is full of them. They are looking in at me and wondering when I'm going to fill the feeders.....bossy little things. By the way...I just saw my first Junco...what will winter bring?

We don't have any asters, but my Mexican petunias are blooming. They are purple and I've planted some purple pentas in with some yellow mums in pots. I love the purple with some red dianthus in the flower bed.

We are gld to have anything after the past winter and summer here in Texas. Yikes it was so cold and then so hot.

I lovve the color purple also in the garden. I just got rid of aster Purple Dome because every year it is eaten by the rabbits and then gets all brown from the bottom up. Yours looks beautiful.
