A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Cosmos and a Poem

I still have some flowers blooming in my yard. The Cosmos are my favorites for this time of year. I did an experiment this year...I had an empty container in the back...I kept this in the back in case it didn't turn out and look unsightly. I sprinkled a package of a mixture of flowers...you know, like the "old fashioned garden" seeds years ago. Pretty soon after planting, I saw a few little green sprigs popping up. Some I recognized and some I didn't. I never took a picture during the summer. I'm so mad at myself. I had some Allysum, Sunflowers, Zinnias, a few weedy things, and Cosmos. I've kept them deadheaded and now, going into fall, they are still blooming. A few seeds must have dropped into my strawberry jar too...I have Cosmos there also. I can remember Cosmos in my Grandma's flower garden. These are the taller single flower plants. I love the leggy loose feel that is reminiscent of the old Victorian garden flower beds. I think they help give the garden a cottage garden feel. I think that I will let these last flowers go to seed, so I can enjoy them next year as well.

Cosmos in My Garden by Balisha

Looking at my little garden.. just a while ago..
I saw a flower blooming and I love it so.
It's tissue petals blowing in the breeze that is so light..
The ferny leaves all moving and buds so very tight.
Cosmos is it's name and pink my favorite one..
A pretty garden treasure in the morning sun.

Cosmos is one of my favorites. When we put in "the meadow" I added a package of cosmos seeds to the wildflower mix. Just wanted to be sure I had plenty of them. Now, invasive, rampant wild goldenrod and wingstem have taken over. They are pretty, but I think it is time to kill everything and start over.
