A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Lilies are Blooming

My lilies are starting to open. I thought that this orange one was the first, but after looking out the window in front of me...I see yellow lilies by the mailbox. I love lilies and have quite a few in my yard. The Japanese Beetle doesn't bother them. The wind and rain don't beat them down. They are always crisp and bright. I'll show more of these...as I have clumps in lots of places around the house. I was just thinking that they would be pretty along the front of the woods. We could see the color from the house. I'll have to remember that.

The rains came down today...this afternoon a gentle mist was falling. The bird feeders were full of a variety of birds...all eating and getting a shower. They would eat a bit and then fluff their feathers and go back to eating. Doves, cardinals, house finches, gold finches, sparrows, blackbirds, cowbird, hummingbirds, and chickadees...all made an appearance, while we were eating. The hummingbird feeder was left out last night. This morning it was empty, but it was still hanging. Tonight, I'll have to bring it in. I had it hanging on a shepherd's hook that I attached to the corner of the deck...hanging in to the deck instead of out. When it drips...I found ants. So, I changed it and now it's hanging out.

Tomorrow is cleaning day. We are having company for Father's Day. I guess we'll have steaks, potato salad, a green salad, Dan is bringing some peppers and cannolis. Joe is such a simple man...he loves deviled eggs, and a dip made with onion soup. He always says, "Nothing fancy please." So, since it's his day...I will comply.

Have a nice night...

Balisha

I love when the lilies bloom, alway signals the start of my summer and some "slowing down" in my life.

Thanks for sharing, the pic is beautiful!

It looks like things have been really busy over here. Happy Anniversary a little late. I hope it was a good day. My garden stuff is being overtaken by weeds and I can't keep up. You have a chipmunk and I have moles. I saw one the other day! Scary looking thing, too. My lilies are in full bloom and beautiful. Most of mine are yellow. I don't have any orange ones. I have worked in the yard for 3 days because it has been beautiful here in the 70s but today we go back to the "muggies". At least I got the yard mowed and weed eating done. I think I hurt myself some way with the weed eater. My wrist is so sore I can barely type. Have a great weekend.

Oh, I see your anniversary and Father's Day are close. Makes me wonder if it was planned that way. Makes for a fun week or so, I would think.

Hope you all have a wonderful Father's Day celebration, Joe and Balisha!

I love that orange lily. I got a clump of 'dwarf' purple lilies at a big box store a couple of years ago - turns out they were orange, and 2' tall isn't really dwarf. It's a happy accident though. I think orange is my favorite lily color now.

Hi Zoey, I didn't like them at first, but they've grown on me. Now, I look forward to them every year.

Hi Cathy...I guess we all slow down a little...because the grunt work is done in the garden, school is out, and the heat is sometimes too much.

Hi Judy...We are going back into the "muggies" here in Illinois. I hope your wrist is better today.

Hi linda...Every once in a while you get a "mistake" when buying bulbs. Sometimes they work out as a nice surprise.

Hi Ernestine... Those pesky beetles can really destroy flowers and veggies. Just when things look nice...they appear.
