A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Feeling Of Spring

TO THE FIRST ROBIN
by: Louisa May Alcott (1832-1888)

WELCOME, welcome, little stranger,
Fear no harm, and fear no danger;
We are glad to see you here,
For you sing "Sweet Spring is near."
Now the white snow melts away;
Now the flowers blossom gay:
Come dear bird and build your nest,
For we love our robin best.

I really don't feel good yet, but was bored and thought that I would write something for my blog.This cold is the cold of all colds, but you didn't come here to read about my problems...so here we go.

I can't tell you how our spirits were lifted yesterday, when we saw our first robins. It was just what we needed. After I came here to put a note on my blog about it...I saw lots of them in the yard....hopping around, tipping their heads as if to listen to the ground, and finally pecking and pulling something out of the grassy spots. Our yard is so full of snow, with only the area around the trees and the house showing any grassy spots. We weren't feeling so well, so I didn't get out to take a picture, but found one on the internet. Looking at those harbingers of Spring, made me feel like the long winter was about to end. I know that there will be more snows and cold weather, but today I got a feeling of Spring. If I just close my eyes, I can almost smell that moist fragrance of Spring, I can almost see the tulips blooming, I can almost see myself on my porch, I can almost see my woods full of wildflowers. A girl can dream can't she?

Thanks for visiting, Balisha! I read your blog every day and enjoy it.
I started with the mask type CPap and now have just the nostril plastic inserts. It is hard to use when a person has a cold. I've had one since 2006. Also, it has oxygen attached. I do not need oxygen during the day. Mary Lou

I share your dreams, just a little bit longer... no robins in my gardens yet.

It won't be much longer. We are having almost 70 degree weather here. I am sure it will get cold again in a few days. Bob and I worked in the yard all morning. We raked leaves and ran the machine that cuts them up. I made a flower bed bigger for this year. We were totally worn out. Just shows how we get out of shape over the winter months.
