I get so tickled when I can buy an almost new book at Amazon for $.01 plus $3.99 shipping. I have ordered so many books this way. You never know quite what you will get...what condition the book will be in. I have found that they are usually in very good condition, so I can rest assured when the seller says the book is like new. I have even received new books this way. I like to read books that other people have handled. I always wonder who read it before me. What was going on in their lives when they read the book? In my old library the person's name was written on the card inside the book, when it was checked out. I always looked to see who had read it before me. Many times in our little town, I would find a book that a familiar person had read before me. Many times I would find that people had the same taste in books as I...and I would purposely look for them. After my post about garden books yesterday, I got a package in the mail. I received a little garden book that is in very good condition. When I opened it up, there was an inscription on the first page.
Here is what it said....
This message is a mystery to me. Who is JB...a man or a woman? It was only written in 2007....why did the recipient sell the book? It's signed with a kiss and a hug, so the two people must have been very close. I put myself in the recipient's place, as I often do. What would make me sell this little precious book? Was there a death, divorce, was it a mistake? I guess that I will never know.I have many books that I have received as gifts with the giver's name in them. Sometimes they wrote a message. I love going back and remembering the gift and the person who gave it. I do know that if someone cared enough to put a special message in a book for me...I would keep it until the end.

What a romantic mystery! Maybe the person will see this post and clear everything up for you.
I did not know about one cent books at Amazon. I think I should check it out.
Thanks for sharing.
I buy all my books used at Amazon, Balisha. Why pay full price when you can buy the same book for just a pittance. By the way, I sell my used books on Amazon too.
Zoey...When you are looking for a book..just click on the used book place. They aren't always a penny, but most of them are at such a reduced rate.
Margie...I haven't sold any at Amazon. Good idea though.
