A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Fun on a Snowy Afternoon

What to do on a snowy afternoon? I still had one present left to finish, so I went down to the basement with a cup of hot chocolate and my little Charlie Brown Bouquet of the Month and got my supplies out. I needed to finish a painting for our Priest... a piece of slate with a picture of the Nativity on it. I started this a little while ago and was waiting for a snowy day to finish painting it. I love to paint on slate. I really enjoy painting on a black background. I haven't had the urge to paint in quite a while, long enough for some of my paints to kind of dry up. As I sat there my fingers started to get into the swing of things. I was a bit rusty at first, but soon I was just breezing along getting my skills sharpened. I guess painting is like riding a bike, you can never forget. Here is the finished slate. It needs to dry for a couple of days and then I can take it to Church and give it to him. I wonder how many people give Priests religious things...maybe they would like some tools, or books, or a bottle of good wine.

Now that I did this, I want to get down there and paint some more this January. I have my plants, big windows, music or WGN to listen to, and my little fireplace to keep warm. I have a whole box of slate to paint on, gourds, saws, and watercolor paper. I think that I'll get in the habit of doing a little each week...just like I started this blog. A day at a time..

Hi Balisha! Your painting is just beautiful and I know he will love it and cherish it. I read the post about Ruth, your neighbor, and the sled. I think the pictures on the sled are great. I wanted to wish you and Joe a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I will be going to the farm to spend it with my girls. We will cook, bake (I have baked myself to death this year)and talk about old times, play with the dogs and horses and just enjoy being together. TW will come to my house the week after Christmas for his presents and such. Love and hugs, Judy

Balisha, I marvel at how talented you are. God has blessed you in so many ways.
I wish you, Joe and your special ones a wonderful Christmas and the best New Year ever.
If I lived near I would have you do something for me. You gave me an idea. I think I will get a piece of slate and paint Welcome on it and hang by screen porch. I painted something on my mailbox. Looks rustic - but that is what I wanted :)
Stay warm. Thank you for your online friendship..

You are so talented, Balisha! What a beautiful painting--I'm sure your priest will be thrilled with this gift. You've inspired me to spend more time in my basement this winter--except paints are useless in my hands; my sewing machine is the only artist's palette that I can manage:)

Wishing you a blessed and joyous Christmas!
