A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

The End of Summer In My Garden by Balisha

The planting at Mary's Garden...
THE END OF SUMMER IN MY GARDEN by Balisha

September has arrived and I have so much to do..
The flowers all look ragged..it makes me feel so blue.
I see the Phlox out in the woods..a glint of purple shows..
But when I get up close..they're fading too I know.
The Coneflowers, once my pride and joy, have dropped their petals fair..
A little goldfinch asks if I will leave it there.
The seed heads are so tasty for little birds I know..
They'll stick up tall for birds to find, when it begins to snow.
The Hostas by the house.. are still so green and bright..
After summer, long and hot...they're still a pretty sight.
My favorite plant, the Sedum, has flourished in the heat..
A tough yet pretty garden plant that really can't be beat.
I planted some Anemones beside the garden wall..
The only flowers I've planted in my garden yet this fall.
My Tulip bulbs are ordered a color new I'll try..
Snowdrop bulbs will be the last that I will have to buy.
My seeds have all been ordered an Amaryllis too..
Some lettuce and some Zinnias are all that I can do.
These days are getting cooler and soon a morning frost..
Will cover my little gardens and things will all be lost.
But until that day I'll do my chores and care for gardens small..
I'll enjoy each day that comes until the North Wind calls.
And then I'll nap and dream of Spring when flowers bloom once more..
My garden clothes will hang till then beside the old back door.
Then one morn...I'll hear a bird and I will step outside..
The Snowdrops will be blooming in my garden by the drive.

I love to feed the birds but they run me ragged filling the feeder. Your woodpecker was lovely, Balisha.

Hi Balisha. I am wanting spring already even before fall brings an end to my garden. LOL! I love your poems.
Your grass looks so pretty with your container plantings. Have a great week.

Balisha - beautiful poem and you make me think of Spring and Fall is just beginning. Your flowers always look so pretty. Now if you want to see "ragged" you need to see these damp woods :)

Cleverly written and some beautiful colour still. See you are using the same template as me. I like the simplicity of it which shows off photos more.

I hate to think about the North wind calling. Your poem is just beautiful and so is the picture. I had to take a picture of my roses this morning. I am sure they are not long from being gone. The weather is beautiful here but we have not had any rain in weeks and weeks. The grass crunches under your feet.

Hi Lona,
I wish my planters looked as good as this one that I've shown at my Church.I've been looking at so many bulbs...I guess I always look ahead to Spring. Balisha

Hi Ernestine,
I was out in my woods all morning. Things look really grim out there. Very dry here too.

Hi Barbara,
Thankyou for the kind words. I like the simplicity of the template too. I used some others and it always seemed so "busy" I think that I will keep it this way for a time.
Balisha

Hi Judy,
My roses are still blooming and have lots of buds still. I swear by these knockouts...they are really carefree. Thanks for your kind words.

Thankyou all for being so faithful in reading my posts. Somedays I'm happy with them and some days not so much. I just put them here and hope that someone enjoys reading about my days.
I hope you all have a wonderful week. Balisha

I love your poems. They are so your life...
Yes, I'm all decorated...and as usual, I over did it!! I seem to think I need to use every little thing I own.
Same with having babies...one was good, two was better...and then I lost count. ..sigh..
Hugs,
Mona

Hi Mona,
I used to have a friend who put everything out each season. She said that she loved everything so much and that it was hard to pick. Her home always looked lovely and well decorated. Yours does too, Mona. Some people just have a knack for decorating and you are one of them...Balisha
