Didn't we all just stop talking about and sharing our pictures of our Amaryllis? It seems only yesterday that I said, "I really don't want to bore you with yet another picture, but this is so pretty...I just had to share."
Imagine my surprise this morning, when I was out cleaning up my flowerbeds and there behind the hosta and susans...was my Amaryllis with what is that....a bud??? What got into her to bloom at this time of the year. She's supposed to be resting up for holiday time. She didn't even have her neglectful period in the basement.
I put my houseplants outside around the foundation of the house for the summer. They get watered and fed when I have time. This year they sort of got "short shrift" as my Mom used to say. The weather hasn't been conducive to gardening with care. I have four amaryllis just enjoying their time in the sun. After finding this, I checked out the Christmas Cactus...they are full of new growth. It looks like these houseplants get by on their own...maybe they have enjoyed my absence...no fussing and pampering from Balisha. I know that I am free and easy with the water...I kill so many houseplants. This reminds me of a funny story. After my Mom passed away, my dear Dad was trying his best to keep her houseplants healthy. He was careful not to water too much. He asked me one day, "Why doesn't that plant change? I water it and have fed it, but it just doesn't change." Bless his heart...it was an artificial plant...we both chuckled about this many times after.
Well, I guess that I will start the posts about the first amaryllis bloom this year. I know it's early, but never too early to show one of these fabulous blooms. More to come...

I tend to over water too, Balisha.
When my plants start turning yellow I know I am over watering. I do it a lot. I keep adding more houseplants and I don't have a basement. I don't know what I am going to do with them this winter.Be sure and post a picture when your plant blooms. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment this morning. I guess I do have a little southern accent because when I go north they notice it. I don't think it is anywhere near Paula Deens though.
