The apricot lily is a favorite of mine. She is back by the hostas and in a somewhat shady location. She doesn't care...she just blooms on and on.
My favorite little petunia with the dark center and veining. She's very photogenic wouldn't you say?
This is my entry for One Single Impression. We were to use the word ochre in our poems. If you would like to read some more of the entries go to http://onesingleimpression.blogspot.com/ This is a fun thing to do. If you like to rhyme...write some poetry...don't be shy...put your name on Mr. Linky and write your poem in a post for all to see. Balisha
I See My World In Color Now
Many, many years ago I took a painting class..
My teacher was an artist.. a creative sort of lass.
She told me then to see the world... I should take a little ride..
To see the color in all things... in the lovely countryside.
As I was driving in my car and gazing all around..
I saw new colors everywhere... that once to me were brown.
I thought of colors all through the day and even in my slumber..
Yellow ochre, burnt sienna, and a very dark one.. umber.
Colors swirled in my head.. thalo blue and cadmium red..
My dreams were now so full of color I couldn't stay in bed.
I went into my work room.. took my brushes and my paints..
I worked so fast and furious that I began to feel faint.
My painting was completed... and as I hung it up to dry..
I had learned to use these colors... and then I wondered why,
I hadn't seen the world before in colors that were true.
Those painting classes made me see so many different hues.
Because of learning how to paint.. the world is there for me..
To see the colors, vibrant, waiting there for me to see.

What an imagery with rhyme..If lines of poem could have been presented in different colours..wow! Nevertheless I still found the poem colourful..
I love the poem, it reminds me of my oil painting days so many years ago.As I read all those colors poped back in to my head. Such familar words to me. Thanks for the memories!!!
I was knitting a wash cloth, I did 3 of them on the road. One with a sunflower(green),one with a butterfly(yellow) and the last with a topiary(green). I love using them... do you want the patterns?
Hello Balisha,
What a beautiful poem. I am not as gifted with words as you are. I do love color in the garden...and love the bright pink as well as the pretty purple colors of your petunias :-)
Hello Ramesh,
Thankyou for reading yet again. The comment below yours is written by a tole painter too. She and I have used oil paints so much in our lives. It so happens that yellow ochre was one of my favorite oil paint colors.Come again.

Hi Lynn,
Glad it brought back memories. Do you still paint? I'd love the patterns, if it's not too much trouble.
Balisha
Hi Noelle,
I always love seeing the vibrant colors in your desert garden. I never knew that there were so many pretty flowers in the desert. You have opened my eyes.
Balisha
Beautiful! Isn't it just true that painting brings color to nature that might not have been noticed before?
I have those petunias too. Plum- something isn't it? They're my favorites.
How interesting to write a poem with a random word...
I thought to myself
She must be a joker,
When she told us to write
A poem about ochre.
I kept racking my brain
But there came no refrain,
So I drove to the boat
to play poker:)
Marnie who must have heard way too many limericks in her youth.

What beautiful colour you found in the garden.
I found when I started painting I became so aware of skies and how different they are moment by moment.
Hello Tumblewords...Is that what I should call you? I visited your blog and love your header. Did you paint that? I took some watercolor classes and like to fool around with it. I mainly paint in oils. Thanks for visiting...Balisha
Marnie...Marnie.....Marnie,
What a wonderful limerick. You should enter it...what fun to get different kinds of poems represented. Balisha
Hi Barbara, I did take the drive and drove my husband crazy telling him all the colors I would see. I would come home from the art store, all excited about a new tube of paint. Balisha
I really really like this poem! I love the energy and the expression of seeing the world anew, of having your eyes open, your brain open.
Beautiful photos and a beautiful poem!
Eileen
what a wonderful revelation... may you always have a brush in your hand... or would that be a shovel..
