A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

One Single Impression Entry...and Early Morning Gardening

At 6 AM you could find me at Church...doing some weeding, deadheading and fertilizing. It's hard to get this done with all the rain and humidity that we've had here in N. Illinois. I like to go over there early, because there's no one to bother me and it is so quiet. People start arriving for Mass at about 7 AM. I almost went in to Mass, but looked down at my clothes, dirty hands, and wet shoes and thought better of it. I don't suppose Jesus would have minded the way I look...but you know, human vanity.
I came home and did the same in a couple of little gardens. While I was gardening I thought of what I do to keep my mind active. I think that you must keep using your brain after the age of 70 or you might just lose it :(. I do some puzzles and play killer scrabble each day, I use math when I do my checkbook, I read and keep up with the news. I have learned so much about this computer in the last two years.... I knit and do artwork.... I can follow recipes and can duplicate recipes in restaurants here at home. I guess that I could go longer, but that would be boring. I have found something new to do. I love to write simple little poems. I know how hard it can be to find words that rhyme and are just the right word to use. I will fuss over a poem...leave it and then come back to it, when my brain is fresh. I think that I will enter one of my poems in One Single Impression. http://onesingleimpression.blogspot.com/ I think it is such a challenge for me to put a poem there with all the talented people who do this. My little poems are quite simple. This is a fun thing for anyone interested in poetry. Each week there is a new word (prompt) to use in a poem. You put your name on Mr Linky and let everyone read your poem. It's really interesting to see how people come up with a poem for each word. Here is the poem that I entered using the word DAWN.

Early Morning

Sitting in my rocking chair... by the window open wide...
The sky was dark the birds who sing... still found a place to hide.
When slowly the morning light.. became the dawn once more..
A little song came from the tree that I had heard before.
A tiny bird, a wren I think, was the first one to appear..
He sang his song so sweetly it brought a little tear.
My heart was filled with joy again.. listening to birdsong gay..
The night was gone.. the sun was up.. and I could start my day.
I love this little rocking chair.. where I can rest a bit..
Sometimes I feel so old and tired and need a place to sit.
So early in the morning.. before the sun comes up..
It's where you'll find me sitting with coffee in my cup.
I'm waiting for the dawn to break and listening for the birds..
They'll sing their little tunes for me... familiar songs I've heard.

Hi Balisha. Your photo is so pretty. A new day, new challenges and new joys. I love the mornings but hate loading myself up with Off to keep the mosquitoes away.

I like writing poems too. Mostly nonsense poems but sometimes I get serious.

I can't take credit for that picture. I have lots of pictures of sunrises, but couldn't find one in my computer picture mess....:( So I had to use this one and I couldn't find out where it came from so I could get permission to use it.
Our skies were full of beautiful clouds last night, but my camera wouldn't work.I have to get a new camera soon.
Thankyou for your lovely comments on my poems. I wish that I had taken a creative writing class in
school. If I could go back to school, I would take so many different classes than I did way back then. Thanks again...Balisha

Cassiopeia, Tumble Words,Rameesh, and Leo... thankyou for your most kind words. My Dad and his Dad before him, wrote simple little poems about their lives. Dad wrote a poem for everyone of us on our birthdays and special occasions. I have them all. When he was alive...I couldn't rhyme a thing. After he passed away, I sat down and tried again. The words just flowed into verse. I know that my Dad would have enjoyed reading some of my poems, but it was not to be. I always think of him, when I write them. Thanks for visiting my blog and I'll come to see yours soon.
