Tomato Planting Day

I looked for my little neighbor girl to help me plant early this morning. She was nowhere to be found. She is getting older and has friends to play with. She still pays us a visit everyday, but doesn't stay very long. She has things to do...as I look out the window right now...there she is with her two girlfriends. They have their purses over their arms and are walking down the road. It's fun to watch her change and grow. So I just picked myself up and went out and did the job.

The tomatoes are planted...It's May 27th...just before Memorial Day. Dad always waited until Mem. Day weekend to plant tomatoes. He said that they don't do any growing until the ground is warm. This year the weather has been so hot...who knew? I tried a couple of new ones... picture below shows a Stupice Tomato. This potato-leaf heirloom from Czechoslovakia is a cold-tolerant tomato that bears an abundance of very sweet, flavorful 2 to 3-inch, deep red fruit. Here is the old familiar Early Girl... This I've grown many times before. Nice early tomato but the flavor isn't as intense as the later producing tomatoes...at least in my opinion.
Usually the earliest tomato to mature, the Early Girl is a highly popular selection for short-seasons. Fruits grow to 4-6oz. Nice flavor, juicy, medium in size. Indeterminate. 62 days
Supersonic....I've see this before and wanted to try it. Supersonic F1 Tomato Seeds produce heavy yields of great tasting 6-8 oz tomatoes. Indeterminate. 79 days to harvest. I think that this one resists cracking.

Taxi....I remember this name because of the yellow cab. This one sounds too good to be true.
The best tomato variety for an early, lemon-yellow tomato. Very popular with compact, bushy, determinate, regular-leaf tomato plants that yield 4-6 ounce, meaty, uniformly-round, delicious, bright-yellow tomatoes that are very sweet (almost seem acid-free). A wonderful choice to add a zesty spark to tomato salads. or a splash of bright yellow color to your favorite salsas. Tomatoes hold up well to slicing s they are very suitable for sandwiches. Taxi can be grown well in most areas. They even hold up well in hot, humid growing regions Golden Nugget cherry tomato. An early golden cherry tomato Gold Nugget produces on a compact determinate bushy plant. Its fruit is sweet, flavorful and crack resistant. A colorful addition to salads and relish trays. Harvest regularly for continuing harvest. Approximately 60 days to maturity

Well, if these are all successful...we will have more tomatoes than we can use. I like to give people things that I've grown...so I guess I'll start saving those little baskets that berries come in...they are so handy. I can't wait to try these. I'm going to start frying the bacon for BLT's.

I wanted so much to have a garden this year and raise fresh tomatoes. I usually plant Early Girl tomatoes..but my husband really doesn't want to do this. I thought of putting some in pots..but so far I haven't done it...I think I was disappointed a wee. Maybe next years. Yours look absolutely wonderful Balisha...
Oh and before I forget...can you write and tell me who did your book and if it was expensive or not?
I priced one that was offered and it was over $200.
I really do want to do it...I am afraid I might lose everything and so much work and time goes into these blogs that it would really upset me to lose mine.
Hugs for helping me if you can.. I would so appreciate any info you can give to me.
