A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Misty Morning Thoughts

He looks like me this morning. Just sitting there with his head full of thoughts and wondering when Balisha is planting her tomatoes?
I accomplished everything on my to do list yesterday. I worked in the misty weather and was tired and damp, when I came into the house. I had a great sense of accomplishment. I spent hours working...so that I could take it easy this summer, when the hot weather hits. It seems that hot weather isn't far off...Sunday and into the next week will bring the 80's and 90's. Right now the sun is trying to peek through the fog. It's going to be a nice day. I have fed the birds already and I find that I need more grape jelly...good grief, I'm going to go broke keeping those Orioles in their favorite food. The little sparrows have found that they like a little sweet too. Today I'm going to weed around the mailbox and pull the grass out of the Blue Rug Juniper out by the driveway. There isn't much grass...so this will be easy.

We are having a reception after the Grotto dedication on June 12th. I've been thinking about what to donate. A couple of years ago I made all kinds of Italian cookies for our St Joseph table at Church. I'm going to do that again. I bought a Pizzelle machine to make those crispy, powdered sugar coated, Italian cookies. It was fun to do...so I'm going to make some of those. Cranberry pistachio biscotti is another one. This time I may make double chocolate biscotti too. Also some spritz cookies (not Italian) They look so pretty on a tray. Last but not least my Mom's recipe for teeny, tiny, mini, chocolate chip cookies...the only cookie that I have ever made with cornstarch as an ingredient. They are dusted twice with p. sugar. I can make these ahead of time and they keep well in a tin or in the freezer. I'll probably do a cookie a day until I get done

Joe has a pinched nerve in his spine...also a compression fracture and some bone spurs. He had an MRI last week and these were the results. He's been hurting since the Grotto project began. Hours of sitting there didn't help, but he wanted to wait till the project was done to go to the doc.
On Tuesday he will go to have an epidural steroid injection... to bath his inflamed nerve root in steroids (potent anti-inflammation medicine) in order to decrease the irritation of the nerve root that is causing pain. Hopefully this will work. If not he may have to have a laminectomy. They can do the epidural a couple of times first. He's walking with a cane and can't sit in his favorite chair. He has to sit straight or lie on the bed. Please keep him in your prayers.

That's about all that's on my mind this morning. My flowers are all planted, the tomatoes are waiting for a couple of days, my to do list is finished (wouldn't you know I'd do it all in one day?) Now to get Joe healthy.

I wish my to-do list was all finished, but I just keep adding more. I greatly feel for Joe and his painful situation! I have had chronic pain for many years, have to sit in hard straight chairs, etc. I will think of Joe and say a little prayer every time I sit down. When we go for Christmas at our older son's home, the grandchildren have been trained to bring down Bobbie's chair (a certain chair) from a bedroom to the family room. That is cute about your orioles having you so well trained. You may have to set up a fund and ask your readers to contribute to the Jelly for Orioles fund. I wish we could have orioles; they are so pretty and I loved hearing them when I was a child on a farm.

Oh poor Joe. I know how awful these backs can be and will keep him in prayers.Your cookies sound so good girl! Especially the cranberry pistachio. Never tasted the combination before but love cranberries.
Summer is just going to drop in and stay now likely.
I did not know about the grape jelly thing. Here I have been trying just the nectar to lure in some orioles with no effect. I will try the jelly now.

Thanks for you concerns about Joe. We will find out on Tues. if this procedure works. Keep your fingers crossed.
I just bought an automatic cookie press. I'll let you know how it works.
The grape jelly works great...they love it. I go through a big jar a week. We get the cheap stuff...not Welches. If they come to your feeder, you will hear them chatter like they are scolding you, when it's empty.
Hope both of you are free from back pain...Have a great weekend.Don't work so hard.
