A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Propagating Poppies

If you love poppies and want to have many plants here is the way to do it...according to Martha Stewart Show yesterday.

1. Lift the mother plant.
2. Shake off the excess dirt.
3. Put the plant on a cutting surface and slice the roots across the entire mother plant with a sharp knife. Cut right down across the middle of the root ball. You will have the mother plant with 1/2 of the roots in one hand and the other half of the root ball (still intact) in the other.
4. Plop the mother plant back in it's original hole and tamp and water in. It will not suffer at all.
5. Separate the many roots.
6. Dip the bottom of these roots in water then in rooting hormone
7. Place them on a tray filled with potting soil
8. Cover the roots with more potting soil and water in.
9. Cover with fine gravel.
10. Put in a bright spot and wait for the plants to grow (it can take a long time) just keep them watered and be patient.
This sounded so easy to do and inexpensive. I have always heard that it was difficult to transplant a poppy, but this way seems foolproof to me.

Catching up as usual.. :) You just must be in your glory with Springtime here...
Poppies grown wild all over California..the hillsides are covered with them. Our family used to always gather together for Easters at a big park when my parents were alive, and our trip to the park would be made glorious by all the poppies along the roadside and in the fields and on the mountains. Lupine is another flower that grows all over California in abundance during Spring. Soon our hills will all turn golden as things dry for the summer. This is our most beautiful time of the year.
