A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Just a Normal Day Around Here

The clouds are heavy again this morning. We didn't get the storms predicted for during the night. Just a trace of water in the rain gauge. I started out the morning watering my houseplants. Next I have to go down and water the ones in the basement. The basement is very cool, because of the warmer than normal temps outside this spring. The heat doesn't go on as often...so it is cooler. I may have to bring the seedlings upstairs and put them in the windows. The only ones that are robust are the geraniums. The others are tiny, weak, little sprigs. I think that I will pull them out and reseed the white marigolds. I took a walk around the perimeter of the house last evening....looking to see how things were progressing in the gardens. The only things that I don't see are the Japanese Anemones, that we planted last fall. We put them near the statue of Mary...so they would be easy to find in the Spring. Unless they are late...I may have lost them. I hope not,as I really like these flowers. The Virginia Bluebells are popping up in many places in the woods. What a nice thing...plants that multiply on their own. The birds really like this kind of weather. They have a "spring" in their steps. They are all fighting to protect their territory. I haven't heard a wren yet and the orioles haven't arrived. They usually come in May and I better have their feeders filled or they will let me know about it. The grape jelly is ready when they are. Our grass is lush and green. It will have to be mowed soon. Our mower is in for repairs and won't be ready for a week. Joe is looking for someone to mow for the first mowing. Well, that's what is going on at my house. Have a nice day.

It's almost 90 here today but with very low humidity which doesn't happen too often in Baltimore. I've been checking out the gardens and have also noticed some plants that haven't made their appearance. Thinking all the melting snow may have drowned them.

Wish that I were closer, John could mow for you and you could teach me about all the flowers.
I am at least getting onions in tonight!

Those bluebells are so pretty Balisha! I just added three to the garden last year. Only two have come up, but no blooms yet.

My Japanese anemones just sprouted this week. Being a little further north than we are, hopefully yours are just a little behind ours.

Some things in our garden sprouted earlier than usual, and some were later than usual. There are still a few things I'm looking for, like Joe Pye weed, wild petunias, and baptisias, but those are usually among the last things to come up. I just noticed a tiny sprout on an Indian Pink planted last year. I was so happy to see it - thought it was a gonner!

It's been raining all day here. Just a few minutes ago we had quite a deluge, but now it's slowed back down again. Good thing, as our swale is full!

I have the same issue with the basement this year - the warm outside temps mean the heat's not going on, and it's kind of cool down there for starting seeds. Anything that hadn't sprouted yet, I had to bring upstairs.

Enjoy what's left of your normal day!

White marigolds? Love to see pictues! I only see yellow and orange here. Sounds like your weather is really nice right now.

I am so ready for spring, we woke to blowing snow and icy roads this morning, but it should be 70 on Saturday and I am planning on being in my yard. My grass is still brown, but there are green plants poking through.

It is raining here now but like you we missed the storms. They are saying we may have frost in the next couple of days. I will have to try and cover stuff coming up. We mowed for the first time last Friday and it needs it again already! I love this time of the year.
