A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

What's Going On At Our House

Do you ever plan a special meal around a TV event? My Mom always celebrated New Year's Eve and the Academy Awards with special snacks for she and Dad.There would sit...an old couple with their snack trays and food...watching the special show. Even the Super Bowl...though she wasn't a football fan. I am in the process of doing the same for Joe and I tonight. I am making stuffed mushrooms and vegetable crudites with homemade ranch dressing. We had these mushrooms, when we went out to eat the last time and I am trying to duplicate the recipe. They were stuffed with a breading mixture and a hot sausage with cheese melted on top. If they are good, I will post the recipe tomorrow.
Tonight is the night for the Academy Awards. We haven't seen most of the pictures, but will rent them in DVD when they come out. Isn't it wonderful that we can watch first rate movies without leaving the comfort of our homes? My wonderful Meryl Streep will be up for best actress in a leading role. She's had a wonderful year what with Julie and Julia, Mama Mia, and lastly... It's Complicated with that rascal Alec Baldwin. Who ever said that the older woman can get no roles in Hollywood? Here's to the "old gal." If you happen to watch the red carpet...Joe and I will be the ones in the flannel sleep pants. :)

I never see movies anymore, but I have such fond memories of watching the academy awards with my Mother. She always baked a lemon chiffon pie for the event. She would be glad for me to sit at her house and watch the show today, but no more pie! I always crave that lemon chiffon everytime I know the award show is coming on.
Enjoy tonight!

Balisha, thanks for visiting my blog. My mom really enjoys her friends she's met through blogging.

I love watching movies but with two little ones we rarely go to the theatre! We've been doing a lot of rentals. I haven't seen Julie and Julia but it is on our "must watch" list. I have to admit I love to watch the Red Carpet fashion, too. (but I am with you on the PJ pants) ;)

p.s. the mushrooms sound delicious!

Good morning Balisha. I used to have a Kentucky Derby party every year but have sort of let that tradition lapse. Haven't been keeping up with most of the new movies either. Truthfully, I don't know many of the actors or actresses these days.

Your special treats sound good. I'll be interested to know if your recipes came out well.

We watch movies in the afternoon, but that will all change, when we are working outside.
I think that any special occasion is worth celebrating...it gives you something to look forward to.
