A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Is Winter Getting You Down? and later...Some More Thoughts About Haiti.

Twelve ways to tell that winter is getting to us....

1.Garden bloggers start to blog about food.

2.Bloggers start to change the looks of their blog....everyday.

3. Bloggers run out of interesting things to say.

4.Bloggers make a mad dash for the mailbox to see if

there are any garden catalogs.

5. We get up during the night to look for comments on our blogs.

6.We break the bank...ordering so many seeds.

7. Roses (which we have never had any luck with)

start to look good.

8. We start talking to the birds about how much they are eating..

"Didn't I just fill this feeder? When are you going south?"

9. We think about going out with the hairdryer and try to melt the snow.

10.We weep at the sight of a patch of grass.

11. We grab our cameras and take a picture of a little thing

sticking up out of the snow. It turns out to be dog doodoo.

12.We start to polish our garden tools.
13. We begin to make silly lists.

I could go on and on. I think that we should just sit back and relax and remember last year in the fall.... We all were commenting on how ready we were to just stay in the house and get all the projects done that we have waiting to be finished. Do you have any unfinished projects?

OK...I need to get up on my soapbox for a minute.
Nothing gets my dander up like someone showing selfishness. Joe just read me an email from someone complaining about our helping Haiti. Why don't we help our own first?
Here are some thoughts about that...
We do take care of our own. There are so many welfare programs that even the poor are not really poor when you compare them with Haiti. Natural disasters are taken care of. It is our Christian duty to take care of our brothers and sisters. What do we all learn when we go to Church. Treat others as you would want to be treated. There is help here in our country, how can any of us complain ? We have shelters, Habitat for Humanity, Church collections, food pantries, Catholic Charities,Salvation Army clothing, toy, food , money drives, Rockford Rescue Mission, Red Cross, People Helping People, neighbors helping each other....Oh...I could go on and on. This is what is sad, the selfish gluttony, the spoiled cluelessness of some people.
How can you watch the children on TV and not want to help them? You as an American should be proud to help these people who have had nothing before, now, and after this disaster, we are part of the greatest country in the world.... You should be PROUD not jealous.
I feel better now. Balisha

On Haiti all our so called poor days would be a blessing for so many there. Where are peoples compassion going? Sad some do not have enough heart to help those here and afar. It is this Me,Me Generation of people we are raising up.Yes, I am my Brother's Keeper! Hey, I will rant along with you Balisha. ;-)

I just had to leave a mesage because I so totally agree with you on the Haiti issue. Our homeless have options (shelters, food stamps that can be used in restaurants, etc.). Their homeless eat mud pies for something in their belly - even the children. I'm having a fundraiser for a local church that has to move their orphanage in Haiti. They've sent 2 groups so far with supplies, and I'm hoping to be able to contribute to their efforts.
I also love gardening:) While it's downright frigid here today, I enjoy planning our gardens. Lots to do out front. (They did nothing before excpt some over grown box shrubs that were the first to go when we moved in!)
