A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

There's a Man in the Woods

Yikes! There's a man in my woods. We hired a young man to do the work, but he must be busy with other jobs and didn't come over. I thought that I would have to leave the woods alone, because we were both so tired of the outside work. Joe said that he would do the weed whacking for me...I was so happy. I like the tall things cut down in the fall then plant wildflower seeds and wait till spring, to see what comes up. I leave the plants that were here in previous years and just make the woods tidy...Can a woods be tidy? My friend Audra came over...I said, "I haven't seen you for awhile." She said,"I've been waiting for your hair to grow. Take off your scarf and let me see." I took it off. She said, "Put it back on, you still look like a boy." Little kids just say the first thing that comes into their mind. Now notice the clothes that I have on. I have a shirt, sweater, sweatshirt and my old gardening jacket.
Now look at Audra. She just has a little shirt on and glitter jeans that were new. They sparkled in the sun. This picture doesn't show the sparkles. This little girl sparkles too...she makes me smile.

I could see this red from the house. Two splashes of red in the woods. A little maple tree by St. Fiacre. He is the patron Saint of gardeners. I have heard his story and wonder why he can't lend a hand :)

Here is the other splash. I planted a Korean Spice Viburnum in the yard. I have moved it 4 times. This is the final place for it on the edge of the woods. So this shows me that I need more color in the fall. Next year, I will plant more red and yellow fall colored plants along the border.
Joe will be delighted to hear this...not!

After the job was done, I filled the feeders and sat on the bench to watch the birds come. My red bellied woodpecker was flying around all afternoon talking to me. I guess I should have said there were 3 splashes of red in the woods. Finally I was done and he could come to feed.

I wish I had a man in my yard, you just get to the point that you are tired of working in the yard this time of the year. When it gets cold I am done. I hate to be cold! Tom is taking the rain barrels down today and I really need to clean off porch, but I have to finish Colleens chair. So it will still be there next week!!!Have a great week!

Hello Balisha,

My husband and I have an arrangement. I design and oversee the maintenance and he carries out my directions. I am so blessed!

Your little friend is just darling!

Aw, Audra does sparkle - looks like there's a lot of spirit in that child - something I just love to see.

I hope the man in the woods gets things done the way you like. Sounds like you had a busy day - you must be feeling well to get so much done. Glad you to got to relax and watch the birds for a while.

Don't you love the woodpecker's calls? Such strange sounds. I have so much left to do but it just never seems to stop raining.
