A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Take the Time to Slow Down

It's in the 40's this morning. The glass door clouded up when it was opened. The birds are waiting patiently in Blue...waiting for Balisha to feed them. Joe is waiting for his coffee. The bed is waiting to be made. The house is waiting to be cleaned. There are stacks of summer clothes waiting on the bed...to be put in storage. The perennials in the yard need to be cut down.It seems that everyone and everything is waiting. The world could stop for a day and who would know? Humans need rests, relaxation, and recreation. We need time to think about things, to clear the mind, and to have fun. But to a person overburdened with claims on her time, fun seems only a distant remembered state of mind.
Slowing down is a way to incubate, conserve, and harvest our energy, not about relief from boredom by just watching more TV or going shopping. You may have to confront boredom at first.I was feeling bored the other day and then I thought about my life...why am I in a hurry to get well? What does it matter if I accomplish tasks in a hurry? Sometimes things have to get worse before they get better. Here are some tips about how to slow down.

How to slow down

1. Drink a cup of tea, put your feet up and stare idly out of the window.

2. Do one thing at a time. Remember multitasking is a moral weakness (except for women who have superior brain function.)

3. Do not be pushed into answering questions. A response is not the same as an answer. Ponder, take your time.

4. Yawn often. Medical studies have shown lots of things, and possibly that yawning may be good for you.

5. Spend more time in bed. You have a better chance of cultivating your dreams.

6. Read the slow stories.

7. Spend more time in the bathtub.

8. Practice (Yes this is the difficult one.)

9. Avoid too much seriousness. Laugh, because you're live on earth for a limited time only.

10. Read the Bible

Now, I am going to reread this list that I have made up. Put my feet up, drink some tea, turn on Wisconsin Public TV and watch some gardening shows and then my favorite Jacques Pepin and Julia Child and do absolutely nothing. By the way...Audra was just here...she came to see my wig. She said that I looked silly. Out of the mouths of babes...you always get the truth.

Great advice. We do all need to slow down and enjoy the moment. Otherwise, we often miss the best parts of life. Blessings to you.
