A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Update on Balisha's progress Friday 9/4/09

Hi Everybody.

WOW! Unbelievable! I have good news for all. Balisha has been told by her Neurosurgeon that she can go home Saturday, September 5th. She had her surgery at about 11:20 AM Wednesday the 2nd and only about 50 hours later she has improved to the point that she is OK to go home. God is awesome. She showered this morning, ate her breakfast and later took a stroll with me around the floor of her unit. Her I V's were discontinued and now is only on oral meds.

Decadron is a steroid given to reduce swelling of the brain. I will be titrating/weaning her off of this med at home. If one stops this med abruptly, it could be very dangerous because it could very easily cause a rebound effect and cause her surgical site and her brain to swell, so one has to quit taking this med a little at a time. I will have her off of it by Monday the 15th.
She will also be taking Dilantin every day for a month to prevent a seizure and then off of everything. Within the next two weeks a follow up MRI will be done to evaluated the progress of the healing at the surgical site.

What a great pair of hands on our Surgeon, Dr. Todd Alexander. Thank you God and Dr Alexander.

Baliaha and I want to thank everyone for their concern and especially for their prayers.

Blessings to all,
Joe

This is wonderful news. I know that she is so excited to be coming home and she will be in good hands once she gets there. She has just done great and we are all so thankful along with you and your families. She will be her feisty self again before we know it. I am leaving town for the weekend to visit my daughter but will check when I get the chance. I am so happy for you both. It is amazing how well she has done during all this. Blessings and prayers for you both, Judy

Dear Balisha, because of being caught up in my own world and having limited use to computer I did not know all that was happening in your world. I read with tears in my eyes. Healing blessings sent your way - my special online friend. God is so good.
