A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Story of a Butterfly

The story of the butterfly

A man found a cocoon of a butterfly. One day a small opening appeared. He sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to squeeze its body through the tiny hole. Then it stopped, as if it couldn't go further.
So the man decided to help the butterfly. He took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bits of cocoon. The butterfly emerged easily but it had a swollen body and shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch it,expecting that any minute the wings would enlarge and expand enough to support the body,Neither happened! In fact the butterfly spent the rest of its lifecrawling around. It was never able to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand: The restricting cocoon and the struggle required by the butterfly to get through the opening was a way of forcing the fluid from the body into the wings so that it would be ready for flight once that was achieved.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our lives.Going through life with no obstacles would cripple us.We will not be as strong as we could have been and we would never fly.
Remember this story as you go through life.
The point is to meet one’s condition with understanding and with complete resignation. The first thing is to meet the condition as it is and the second is to better the condition. The more one can avoid conflict the better; at the same time we cannot always avoid a conflict, and we must not turn our back on it if it comes to us. After all, life is a struggle and we must be ready.

Hi Balisha, I just love this. What a great way to explain life's struggles and how true it is. I hope you are becoming stronger every day and your struggles are becoming less and less. Love, Judy

I remember this story and it is just as true and inspiring as it was before.

When I was very young I remember a teacher showing us pictures of a butterfly and explaining the importance of the struggle it had as it morphed into a new life. You forget sometimes in times of striff, that struggle IS necessary.
I think most of us do forget. A little memory nudge now and then is a good thing. :) Thanks, Balisha.
You sound so good...and I get the feeling you are getting back more and more of your need to create. It's such a great feeling, isn't it?
I went for my preop yesterday. Good news. Only approximately an 8 inch section of my colon needs to come out and no bag or anything like that is necessary! I was so relieved. I think that had been in the back of my mind for some time.

Thank you so much for stopping by for my Autumn post and leaving such a sweet comment. I get self concious when I post photo's but I really have very little yard and flowers to photograph. The yard is still evolving...and that takes time and money. The patio must be finished and the front curbing. I should probably be glad it is a small yard! :) I think I overdo a bit in the house. Oh well. :) Keeps me off the streets! :)
It was over a 100 here yesterday. Is it getting cool where you are yet?
Lots of worries here about fires and some are almost in our back yard here. I didn't know this until a friend arrived last night and told me it was on the news. I had thought I smelled smoke but paid little attention. :) Now, that was pretty dumb being in California on a day as hot as that!
I should have guessed there were more problems.
Take care, my friend.
