The above is my clematis just ending it's blooming time. My daughter bought me a beautiful trellis at the Klehm Garden Sale a couple of years ago. I was just starting to put things back in the woods, so she thought this would be a nice addition. The clematis is a smallish one and there is a large purple one mixed in. Had I given it more thought, I would have planted a white one. It would have shown up in this dark area better. Oh, well, I enjoy this one and it has done well filling the entire large trellis this year. I may put a white one there too...next year.
My coneflowers grew from seed planted last year. They have done well with little or no care. I just go out once in a while and use the trimmer to cut down the growth around them...so you can see them. These are interspersed throughout the woods.
Here is my "yellow" sunflower. I planted seeds in a large pot in the woods. It is pretty, but my idea was to have yellow...so it would show up.
My choke cherries are ripening. The birds are busy chowing down and pooping on everything. Purple poop goes well with my color scheme. These are just a few pictures as summer winds down in my yard. Right now, I am going to go out and fertilize some things and do some deadheading and cutting back. Fall is coming and there's so much to do. Have a great weekend.

I like your header. The pictures are all great. You have such a beautiful yard.I have been thinking about the end of gardening season. I hate to see it come. I am not much of a winter person. I am going to spend this winter planning some new flower beds for my yard.

I love your yellow sunflower ;-) I think this is the year for summer surprises in the garden. I have heard so many people talking about having flowers changing color or not getting the colors they thought they were getting.
I am so surprised that the coneflowers are growing so well in the shade.Now I am going to spread mine around to the woods thanks to your posting.

Your neighbor's coneflowers are lovely. Makes a good header. I have a few but not that many. Black eyed susans are taking over here. I guess the wind or the birds drop the seeds. They're everywhere but I like them.
I love the photo of the coneflowers. They are some of my favorites. I have those little berries too, but I didn't know what they were. Thanks for solving that mystery for me. It's funny that the birds here are gathered around the bush too. Now I know why. Have a blessed day.
Great pics! I was deadheading and tidying up yesterday, the verbena are spent, the oregano is bolting and I had the same thought .. of winding down.
Love your purple echinacea plants! Excellently composed photo; the dark shaded portions make the bright colors of the flowers even more radiant.
