A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Day In The Garden

Here is how it looks today. Just took this photo to show how tidy everything is. A few flowers really makes a difference.
I love these little beauties. Little bunches of grapes ....so cute!

It's evening now and I have worked off and on all day in my little corner of the world. My sweet driveway garden is all tidied up. I pulled out a couple bags of leaves and other debris. The darling little minor bulbs are in bloom along with the daffodils. The purple blue of the grape hyacinths mixed with the yellows of the dafs is one of my favorite combinations. Lamium is starting to wake up and get ready to crawl. It crawls in and among all my flowers. Soon it will be covered with lavender flowers. My pink knockouts are full of new starts. They appreciated the tidy up. I potted some more of my hens and chicks. Why do I like them so? I painted a little concrete garden girl this winter and planted some chicks in her front planter. I stopped for a bit and sat on the porch to talk to a dear friend. The finches have built their nest in the wreath on the house this year. The wreath is right above my chair. They were buzzing my head the whole time we visited. There are 5 tiny eggs in the nest this year. I worry about them not being able to sit on the eggs enough, so, after my hubby mentioned the fate of cold eggs... I decide to leave the porch and do more gardening. He is busy next to me in the driveway...getting the two lawnmowers ready for the season ahead. Once in a while he says a colorful word or two to brighten my morning. LOL A sleek gray bird landed on the porch railing. I sat very still and watched. He went up to the area of the nest and just looked. Then down to the railing again. I have to learn to take the camera with me at all times, I guess. My pictures aren't as good as many bloggers...so I hesitate to put them here. This bird looked like a small mourning dove. I'll have to check the bird books tonight. I continued my work and he never came back. The purple mums that were planted last fall are doing well. I filled some pots with soil to get them ready for scented geraniums and other pretties. Well, my work is done for today. Hubby didn't fare as well...he finally had to take the mower in to be fixed. More colorful words as he rolled out of the driveway. He worked so hard today and it is just as hard for him as it is for me now. He does things around the house that I wouldn't want to do and I do things that he has no interest in. All in all we are a good team.

As you can tell this was written last night after a hard day's work.

Seems the kind of easy-going day we have been waiting for all these cold months. Sorry about the mowers, that is so frustrating. I do not get along with machines at all! Not even cameras. If I didn't have husband and son nearby, I'd have to move into a high rise!

We live in a small town with not much of a hardware store,,, so many times we can't find parts that we need ,,,,so a trip several miles away, to get things fixed or to buy parts. This year he is going to try the mowing,,,if it is too hard, we have a young man who wants the job.

The grape hyacinths are so pretty. Love your little chair in the flower bed. I like to see recycled decor in the garden.

I like to "hit" the garage sales to try to find garden "decor" They will soon be starting in our area. I do to a few...but not like I used to.
