A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Winter weather

What do you do to prepare for a big snowstorm? Our grocery store was crowded yesterday and everyone was buzzing about the coming weather. The way people were buying...you'd think we were back in the old days, when you had to stock up, because who knew when you'd get to town again. Milk, bread, and toilet paper...the grocery man told me...that's what people buy. I can't remember the last time that we were snowed in for more than a day, but I always have those things on hand.

My cousin called from Iowa a little bit ago...nothing happening there. She is prepared for an ice storm. I think we are going to get more snow than ice here. It was nice visiting with her, but the undertone was all about the weather. She is my age and lives alone, so winter is a hardship for her. She's had the flu and this morning she went to the mailbox and there was a package there from my husband. He sent her his CD of all the classics. She was thrilled and will listen to it this afternoon. We told each other that we would call later and see what Mother Nature dished out.

I usually make a pot of soup, when the weather sounds bad. It tastes good and warms us, when we come in from clearing snow. Yesterday I made lima bean soup. I have enough for an army. There is no sense in cleaning, because clothes and boots and snow will be everywhere. Men are great at tracking in. Dogs too!

Well the snowblower is gassed up and ready, shovel is in the doorway, we are ready for it.

I guess we will just watch the sky...listen to the weather report....keep going with our Christmas preparations....and hope that the report is wrong. 10 - 12 inches of snow is too much. What's with Mother Nature anyway?

We do the same things as you mentioned preparing for snow or hurricanes. It's always been to be prepared for the worse I guess. Can't wait to see the surprise you mentioned on my blog tonight. :)

Thanks for dropping by my blog. I really like yours and look forward to reading the archives.

Having lived 20 years in Wisconsin, I fully understand about the snow. Except that we had to go to work in it. Can't believe we did that for so long. Milwaukee is expecting another 6-10 tonight. I don't miss it at all!

We had our first snow and ice this week. But it melted yesterday, thank goodness,

As I sit here, it is coming down like crazy. It almost looks like a heavy fog... here at my house. My hubby caught my cold and is not feeling very good . I took the dog out, early, and it was a rain snow mix.
Thanks for reading and your comments. Guess I will go and work on my painting...it's a Christmas gift...will I get it done?

Thursday is my regular night to pick up groceries for my parents. The store was packed! This morning the roads were a mess. Luckily I heard the weatherman warning everyone to stay off the US 20 bypass. The city streets were terrible but I got from Winnebago, IL to Mulford Rd without mishap.
