A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Christmas Decorating

Some bloggers are showing their home decorating, so I thought that I would post mine. This is one of my favorite things to decorate. Our hutch is decorated with my Christmas village. It was started by my husband and daughter years ago. I have added pieces and so have friends. One year a neighbor gave me pieces to paint for her village and she surprised me with a gift of half of her treasures. The hutch is decorated and lit from top to bottom. It is a favorite for kids...when they visit. They like to play with the little town. I let them and leave things just as they left it. The dining room looks so pretty at night with the village lit and the snowflakes shining in the windows.
This is my mini manger. I didn't have a manger years ago and my 1st husband went down to his workshop and made this small one for me. He finished it and surprised me...I painted it and I've had it our every year since then.

The Priest that brought me into the Church, gave me a gift card that year for a religious store in a neighboring town. I was able to buy this wonderful manger scene. It was made in Italy and is painted exquisitely. A new addition to our home. It sits on an end table in our living room.

Finally...here is our little tree. We had some problems early in our marriage about Christmas. We both had happy marriages before, but lost our spouses after 46 years of marriage. We both love to decorate for Christmas. The first year we had two trees...his and mine. He wanted his things displayed and I wanted mine. It's a funny thing about Christmas memories...they are so important to us. This is the first year that we have made peace about the problem of decorating. We don't have room for it all, so after long talks about it, we decided to put out the things that were really important in our past and then to make our "own" traditions and display things that we have purchased together. So this year...we have one medium sized tree with things from both of our lives and some new ones. We were really acting like children before...both wanting our own way. I feel so much better about Christmas this year. Christmas isn't about the decorating...it's about the celebrating the birth of our Lord. Sometimes we forget.

I really enjoyed this post, Christmas is about the spirit of giving .. not in presents, but of ourselves. So glad you and DH found peace :)

Love both your mangers!

A very charming little village. My sister has village pieces we bought in Galena one year.

Supposed to be another cold night, 4-degrees I think. Keep warm.

I invited myself to see your home decorated for Christmas from halfway across the globe, from India! It's simply beautiful! I'm sure you will have a lovely, lovely Christmas.

Dear anonymous,
I wish that I had a name to call you.I know that some people in India celebrate Christams...though I don't know if you do or not. I would just like to say this to you...I have watched the news on our TV these past days and can see the turmoil and pain in your country, caused by a few. I would only pray that during this Christmas season...your people can find peace, so that innocents can get on with their lives.I remember how I felt during 9/11 and maybe you feel the same way now. We are all family in this world and when one hurts we all do. Have a Blessed Season.
Please come and visit again.

Hi Marnie,
I used to go to Galena. What a neat place to shop. We did have a cold night and today will be the same. Where's the sun??
