A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

What is it?

Now what in the world would you guess that this is? The picture was taken yesterday at St. Mary's. The arts and environment committee were getting ready for fall decorating. I found the directions on how to make a cornucopia out of burlap and chicken wire a couple of years ago. I kept the directions and thought I would try it sometime. We have a new people on the committee this year. When you get "new blood" on a committee, they are usually "gung ho" and ready to work. Father has made many changes in our sanctuary this fall. We have been given more leeway in our decorating. I thought this would be the perfect time to bring out the plans. We gathered with our 5 ft. piece of chicken wire, 2 yds, of burlap (cut in placemat size), aluminum foil, wire, pins, and a big bottle of glue. Rubber gloves were in order. We wrestled with the wire...twisting and turning and scratching our skin...until it resembled a cornucopia. After securing it we started covering it with foil. We mixed glue and water in a bucket and cut the burlap. After dipping the burlap in the bucket we started to place it on the form. It was more difficult than I expected...being that it was so huge. We decided to secure it with straight pins and finally used fine wire to hold this burlap in place. As it started to get tacky we squirted straight glue on the seams. It was finally finished. We took a picture, cleaned up our mess and called it a day. The cornucopia will have to sit in the kitchen until it is hard. The day was finished, when we brought in the mums, baskets, pumpkins etc. to decorate the sanctuary. I will post a picture when the cornucopia is finished and filled and placed in our Church. When we get together, it is always hard work. I call us the Church Mice. We are in our Church, many times, when no one else is around...except the secretary. We change, switch things out, decorate and tidy up without anyone knowing we are there. It is hard work...but on Sunday morning, when we see how beautiful we have made the Lord's House...it is worth it.

That is so cool, can't wait to see the finished product and pics.

We worked on it after the picture was taken...smoothing down the burlap. The foil and chicken wire are supposed to slip out and leave a hard form.....we'll see how that works.
How is the move going, Ohiomom? I miss your recipes.

I bet it will be beautiful when your church will look so pretty all decorated. I can't wait to see the pictures. I always wondered what church mice looked like.

Hi Judy,
Now I'm under pressure...hope this thing works out. Right now it is pretty ugly. We may have to hide it behind Father's chair.
There are lots of "Church Mice" We are in every nook and cranny.I'm sure it's like that in all Churches.
