A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Something just popped up in my crowded front flower bed. I think it is a poppy. I have never planted poppies....so where did it come from? Maybe it came from bird droppings. It is small in size and just kind of meanders through what I have planted there. The leaves are sort of ferny. It is so cute...guess I'll leave it there...unless someone tells me that it is invasive. I check this garden daily...how did I miss it?
I noticed that the mum plants have arrived at our grocery. A sign of fall for sure. They look so bright and pretty. I ordered some hardy mums this year. I have had trouble with mums in the past. They don't come back the next year. I suppose that the grocery store mums are for one season only. They aren't my favorite flower, but give good color during the fall. Remember those huge mum corsages back in the 50's? Those were the days when your boyfriend bought one for you at the homecoming game ...to wear to the dance later.

It does look kind of like a poppy to me too. I'm not fond of mums either, I like the daisy type the best. We did the whole huge floral mums with the ribbons & ornaments when I was HS too, that was the in the 80's. I don't think they do it anymore though.

A volunteer plant! How cool is that, and such a pretty little volunteer.

I remember the homecoming corsages ... and dancing with the love of the moment :)

Hi Ohio Mom,
These corsages were sold at the game, in our town. My boyfriend's Mom was at the game and bought my corsage. How funny :)

I remember those corsages as well. This does look like some kind of poppy. I love them. I think they are so pretty. I do not do well with mums. Like you, mine never come back no matter what kind I get!

Hi Judy,
I will let you know how the mums that I ordered work out. They are called late season Belgian Mums.I have one spot that I would like to put them...then I don't have to fuss with that area. There will be something for all seasons.
