Knockout Roses

The bottom one is new and is a double pink. I understand that next year there will be a yellow. That's always exciting in the garden world...a new color! I'll have to get one to go with my Hubby's marigolds.

These are all knockout roses. I have always had trouble with roses....then the knockout came along and I read everything that I could get my hands on about these. I decided to try them and haven't been too disappointed. I lost two during that horrible cold winter last year. I visited the garden center, where I bought them, and Ginny said that just about everyone lost them. I had recommended them to our Church and felt bad because they were lost too. I bought a couple of new ones this year...and they have bloomed all summer. I hope that they make it through the winter...I will be more diligent about mulching or covering them this year. I really figure that if they are lost...I will be sad, but they have given me pleasure the whole season long ...and will till frost, so I have to think that they were worth it. Such a bright splash of color in the garden and in my little floating vase.

I love Knockouts, they make Roses easy for everyone. I have the original red single one. I love your doubles especially that pink one. Yellow is a fantastic color, I'll have to check that one out.

My mom did not garden, but daddy had a rose bush when I was a wee girl, I remember how he would cut it back each fall and cover it with a bushel basket covered in straw. His last garden before he died was filled with roses, no other flower, just his beloved roses.

Hi PG and Mom,
These are so great because they bloom nonstop. I'll bet that garden of roses was really beautiful. Did he like one color or did he mix them up?

I got my first knockout rose this year. I love it. My yard is so shady I usually can't grow roses. I have it in the only spot that gets a little sun and it has done well. I will get more next year if this one lives till next year.

Hi Judy,
I just think that they're great.I like to cut small bouquets and put them in little crystal cream pitchers. They make such a tiny bouquet...nice for the bathroom,on the breakfast nook table, or on a bedside table. They keep blooming on and on.
By the way....there's something to look for at garage sales...tiny vases and creamers for bouquets.
