A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

They're baaaack!!!

I guess that I was being a dreamer this year...thinking that the Japanese Beetle would not visit our yard. They hatched on July 3rd and our whole neighborhood is infested. Everywhere we look there are beetles "having their way with each other" on the plants. I have used sprays in the past to no avail. They tell us not to use the traps...only attracts more to your yard. If we treat our lawn....the neighbors should too. This is what I've been told. This year I am trying something new. I put one ounce of "simple green" in a squirt bottle and 15 oz. of water. I carry it like a gun and at high noon I go out and let them have it. The mixture doesn't seem to hurt the plants, but those pesky critters don't like it at all. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Don't worry they should be gone by mid july. I don't even bother with the spraying anymore, you can handpick them off your plants. I find by keeping my rose buds cut back until they are gone it helps. They will mess with other plants too unfortunately. But they love roses.

We've had them before and I remember that they don't stay too long. Good idea about the rose buds. They love my hanging plants...petunias etc. I just helped with the mowing and didn't see any where I sprayed yesterday.
