This is what we were doing 9 years ago this morning. Today is our 9th anniversary. We married late in life after having been married for 46 yrs. to other spouses. When they passed away...Joe and I found each other and the rest is history...so they say. The day was just like today, bright and sunny and not too warm. We got married at St Thomas More Church in Elgin, Illinois. It was a morning wedding and our processional was Morning Has Broken....my favorite hymn. The recessional was How Great Thou Art...Joe's favorite. Our best friends Nancy and Ralph were our witnesses and all of our families were there. Father Plesa, an old friend of Joe's, was our Priest. Our reception was at Floyd's
restaurant in Carpentersville. Everyone who came to the wedding was invited to eat with us. It was a wonderful day and a nice way to start our marriage.
So, that being said, this is the bouquet of roses that I got from Joe. It was a surprise....they are so pretty. We're celebrating the day by going to a favorite steak house in Rockford later on.
We've had some speed bumps along the way...how to fit our lives together peacefully. We were both attached to our "possessions" and had a hard time blending our two styles of decorating. Blending the families was another bump in the road. We had some problems, but things worked out. It took longer than I thought...patience was a word used so many times. Now, after 9 yrs. things just come naturally. We have blended everything that needed blending and the little things were just forgotten. Our lives are really filled with joy and hopefully we'll have many more years like this. Now I have to go get ready for my day. Hope your day is great.
