When I talk about my work space downstairs...this is what I'm talking about. We have an unfinished basement with several "rooms" One side is mine, where I have all of my painting supplies and my storage area. Joe has the rest of the basement. He has a couple of rooms for his hobbies...wood working, and a music studio of sorts. Winters will find us downstairs...Joe on his side with machinery humming and I'm in the next room painting or playing with my plants. The view above shows the north wall of my room. You can see that the plant stand is bare, because the plants are all on vacation, doing well, either outside or upstairs. The table with blue oilcloth is usually filled with plants that I am going to winter over in the house. The cabinet to the right holds houseplant supplies and drawers full of paper things for crafting. There is a huge, long, table just behind this blue table...where I have an office chair and my very large workspace. Hanging lights make the area very bright. Under the table are bins full of dried and silk flowers for wreath making for Church. There is carpet on the floor and a little fireplace, just across the room, for extra warmth in the fall and winter. The basement refrigerator and freezer are on the other side too....handy for a snack or drink.
When we started working on this arrangement, Joe had the basement heated...so it's nice and warm, except on very cold days I need to wear layers. Most of my art supplies are upstairs right now...I was having trouble in my lower back and wanted to have things a little more handy....rather than having to go up and down the stairs so much. Now things will move back downstairs since my back has improved with exercise in gardening this year.
The tool tote was a curbside find for me. I was driving down the main street of my former town, when I spotted it in the trash. I couldn't believe that it was being tossed out. So, I went up to the door and asked about it. The elderly woman said yes that it had been her husband's.He was a carpenter and he used it everyday in his work. After he died, she wanted to clear some things out. I told her that I would like to take it, but I just couldn't take this from this elderly woman...so I paid her for it. I paid her what I would have paid in a shop. It has been my treasure ever since.....holding my art supplies when I was painting for shops... many years ago. It started out on my kitchen counter...holding kitchen supplies, until I moved it into my art room. There it stayed.
So, when I talk about my downstairs this winter...you will now know what it looks like. When we first got married, 10 yrs. ago, we thought about finishing the basement, but we decided that it was kind of silly at our age.We did the next best thing...It is almost as clean as upstairs and I try to keep it tidy. We have heat and those wonderful windows instead of small windows high up like other basements.I can turn my chair and look out at the snow coming down. On a snowy or rainy day, you might find me there.....cozy with my little fireplace, listening to my WGN on the radio, doing some kind of art work, Joe's machinery, in the next room, humming or maybe he is humming a song or two.

We were eating breakfast and I told Joe that I thought I had done a post about my workroom before He said that he wondered why anyone would be interested in a post about my workroom. I told him that we bloggers are interested in every detail of how each of us lives. Women find it interesting to hear about each other's homes... to better visualize rooms, favorite things, gardens etc.when reading each other's stories.
I apologize for posting something that I have talked about before. Not the exact same post, but one that tells about the same subject as before. I've been keeping this blog since May of 2008....and after over 1763 posts about every phase of my life...I'm bound to do a little rerun once in a while. After all, TV is all reruns during the summer :)

Wow...you are so neat. Love the tool box, what a great find!
Yes--we want to know everything--in that way we get to know each other. I love the tool box--just love it. Most people would have just taken it, but God left it there for you because he knew you would be the one person to go to the door, ask and then pay her for it. I love your basement work area--I had one similar, in the house where I lived. Miss those kind of areas when living in this wee space.
I love you blogs even if they were repeated once in a while!
Your work space is inspiring.
I've not seen your workspace before and enjoyed seeing it and reading about it. Love your tool box too and what a neat story behind it.

I love reading your blog and seeing your lovely family, home and gardens. It is a joy to "visit" with you. Thank you for sharing your workspace.

I enjoyed your post. What a great space to have and so clean!
The toolbox was a good find. It sounds like you have had many years of usefulness from it.
Balisha, this is a wonderful area for you and Joe. Just no basement at this time and a 1 car attached garage that is filled from floor to ceiling. Freezer, garden tools, small tractor, car, bird seed and dog food. Wish it was bigger but really do not need it.
