A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Do You Ever Buy Yourself a Christmas Present?

I just received my first issue of Country Living...the UK edition. I hemmed and hawed over this purchase a month or so ago because of the cost, but I decided to give myself a Christmas present and ordered it. I had to wait several weeks to get it, but let me tell you...it was worth the wait. We have a Country Living magazine here in the states and I  have been a subscriber for many, many years. I saved the first 10 yrs of magazines, but decided to give them up when I moved here. I stopped saving them after 10 yrs. because the magazine had changed so much. Instead of country...it was getting too modern for my tastes. Then a year ago, I heard about the English version of the magazine....and that led me to the decision to subscribe. This December issue is full of treats for the reader...best picks for presents, handmade paper crafts for Christmas, a story about a glass blower, the Warwickshire garden's magical effect, decorations from the hedgerow, Christmas in a cottage, countryside in winter, a story about an old Church, women and their sheds,Swan Lake, creations from the kitchen and on and on. So much wonderful holiday reading in this treasure of a magazine.I'm saving it for an afternoon...when the snow flies...hopefully before Christmas.Tell me do you ever buy yourself a present?
Balisha

PS...I ordered a British garden magazine too. Another Christmas present for me.... tee hee

I have a friend who went to London and brought me back some magazines. I truly enjoyed them! At one time we were able to buy foreign magazines from Borders. I miss them. I think a small treat at Christmas time is in order for all the hard work we do! :)

I buy myself presents all the time (DH and I do not usually buy each other gifts as there is not much we want or need anymore) If we see something that appeals to us, we just buy it--always small purchases. Anything large, we discuss before buying.

Just this morning I ordered 8 items form CC. Did you see that they have 50% off on everything plus free shipping?

Balisha, I have been known to buy myself a gift this time of year. :) There are such bargains to be had that it's hard to resist.

I don't blame you for buying the UK version. Two or three years ago, I won a blog give away from Penny at Comforts of Home and she gave me several back issues. I just loved them and then passed them on to my mom. Actually you are making me realize that would make a wonderful gift for my mom. :)

Hey, someone just left me a comment and said that you also posted about Susan Branch some time recently. I'm going to backtrack and see if I can find that post.

So glad to have found your blog. :)

I didn't know there was a differnt version for the UK. How interesting. It looks good. I'm familiar with the US one.
Enjoy!!!

Good morning

Yes, I buy presents for me sometimes. Your post reminds me of a friend who gave me some Country Living magazines about two years ago. Maybe I should go for a visite and ask if she still has a subscribtion. :-) Have a nice day! Hopefully, there will be snow soon. Regula

This reminds me of the IDEALS magazines that my mom used to get when I was a kid. I think they came about 4 times per year and were more like books than a magazine. I used to love them! Now I am going to have to go GOOGLE them and see if they are still printed or find some images of them :)
