I thought I'd plant some Tulips.. a favorite you know.
I bought the bulbs so fat and firm and got my gardening things..
And set to work among the trees.. my heart began to sing.
I pictured Spring in all her glory.. when days would be so fair...
I pictured Spring in all her glory.. when days would be so fair...
I planted each bulb carefully.. I'd keep it watered there.
Close to winter a mulch was laid.. on each and every one..
I dreamed throughout the season of these Tulips in the sun.
When it was time for Tulips... my flowers bloomed right there...
When it was time for Tulips... my flowers bloomed right there...
They were standing just like soldiers across the garden fair.
They looked a little sparse to me...why didn't they look right?
They didn't look like others... even though they were so bright.
A friend was visiting me that day and the Tulips we did see..
She said, "Why are your Tulips in a row...and not in groups of three?"
She said, "You really want your Tulips.. in clusters to look nice."
She said, "You really want your Tulips.. in clusters to look nice."
In patches thick with flowers.. please take my kind advice."
The next Spring there were clusters of Tulips in my yard..
Groups of pretty Tulips..it wasn't very hard.
Now when I see a garden with flowers all in a row..
A new gardener's planted Tulips...this is what I know.

Ah yes--I remember hearing that advice from my mother. Now, I just dig a big hole and put 3 or if big enough, 5 in clumps. Looks so nice. I cannot wait to see my hundreds and hundreds of tulips and daffodils blooming! C'mon spring!!
LOL! I had to laugh because when I planted out my first big pile of tulips I planted them in a row too. The postal lady brought a package to the door and told me they look artificial.LOL! I have planted so many in rows and they do lose their appeal singled out like that. Now I plant two together but I will have to remember the words from your friend and plant them in threes. They do look like beautiful bouquets like plant that way.
I planted some tulips in a large pot on our patio. They haven't bloomed yet, but are still green and looking like they might come up yet. It is very warm in Texas still. Although we did get some cold weather for this weekend.
Hi Balisha, Gosh, I almost didn't recognize your blog. Everything looks so springtime fresh and lovely. I found some tulips at Walmart the other day and did plant them in clusters. I love your poem, too. It was so nice to hear from you and I hope you enjoy the cupcakes. We sure have. Like you, I plan to cut back every year and I don't. I have a basket full of seed packets and I don't know where they are all going. It seems I can't resist buying them in the store. They give me visions. lol. Visions of beautiful gardens all around my house. Hope you are both well and have a great weekend. Love and hugs to you.
What a lovely, funny poem Balisha. Did you write it?
To everyone...I still start out planting them in a single row...but catch myself and plant in clusters. They look so much better that way.
And yes Britt, I did write the poem.I have many poems on my blog that I have written. They are just simple little rhymes, just little stories about my life.
