A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Friday Happenings Here at Home

Find out what I did with my Clementine box....read on.Picture credit.. Apartment therapy.com Kerry Michaels

It started snowing a couple of hours ago. Snowing like it will never stop. A heavy wet snow that will make the snow plowers happy at last. I was in town this morning and all the talk was about the snow that was coming. "Have you heard about the snow? Are you shopping before the snow? Are you trying to miss the blizzard?" I got home rather quickly and settled in for a snowy day. It wasn't long before the rain started...then icy pellets came down, and finally snow. It was about 3:30pm and I hadn't been out to feed the birds. I looked out the back sliding doors and Mrs. Cardinal was navigating between the hanging feeder and the clementine box that I had affixed to the deck railing... to hold the suet. She decided that suet was the choice and hopped in the box. Now this is quite an interesting thing. The birds have looked at this box with quizzical looks...Should they trust it?...What's in it? Is it safe? They have avoided it like the plague.....avoided it until today. They may be desperate to eat today...now they will get in the box to eat. She's the first to attempt to eat out of the box. Yesterday the Juncos were looking at it with curiosity. I looked at this brave bird and got my coat with a hood on and Joe's big boots...went into the garage and got a bucket full of seed and suet. I first trudged out to the front feeder, because no bird was feeding there. When I finished, I came back in the house and checked out the door to see if she was still there. She had gone, so the coast was clear for me to go out on the deck with my bucket full. I looked around with snow falling with huge flakes. I wondered about the birds and worried about the birds that have migrated early. I enjoy having feeders where I can see them while I eat. I can't enjoy a meal if their tray is empty. We have so many birds here early in the morning, but we have many more later in the day, just before dusk. The cardinal pair are always here very late in the day. I make sure that they have food for the night ahead.

On another subject...the eagles in Decorah. We have the eagle cam picture on our computer screens all day. We both pop in to see what is going on. Yesterday was the first time we saw both of the adult eagles. It seemed that the female was on the nest and the male was coming in and sat on a branch far away from the nest. The cameraman panned the camera around, so that we could watch. The eagle never landed on the nest while we were watching. I would love to see the "changing of the guard, so to speak" We did, however see her lay an egg. There will be three eggs this year. One is broken, so two are safe to hatch. The first egg will hatch around March 25th. I just saw her get up and turn the eggs around and then sit very gingerly down in a new position. This morning, when we got up, we checked on her and it was snowing in Decorah. She had snow on her feathers. I wondered if she gets cold, how does she sit for so long? If you want to watch this...here is the link again. http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles Be sure to have your sound turned up to hear other birds chirping, geese honking, the wind blowing, and the sound of the Eagles. She doesn't make a sound very often, but I've heard her squawk a little.
Last year, it seems that everyone was watching. The kids watched at school, everyone was talking about it. My cousin, who lives in Iowa, said that the people at the senior center were watching.
Well, I have to get going and do some things around the house. We had a visit from the mailman a short time ago. Joe had ordered some shirts for Spring...shirts of all pastel colors and I got a new top with flowers all over and a pair of shoes....huaraches. Sounds like the mailman brought Spring through the heavy snow.

I know no one is thrilled but would you send some of that snow our way ... we've been really deprived this year.

I hope you will pop by to help us bring 'angel love' for a young girl who is sick.

Thank you.
Have a beautiful PS weekend ~

Balisha up at 4:00 to let Callit out. Yesterday 75 degrees and this morning 33 on my porch.
Weather sure changed along with my side yard filled with a large tree.
Thank you for remembering me.
I tried all night to focus on blessings and found it pretty hard.
I am ashamed of myself.
Another project ahead....

We have had virtually NO snow all season, Balisha. Maybe 3" total. It does rain, though. We had high winds all day yesterday. Spring storms, but no tornadoes. Thank goodness. I guess I'll take this over snow any ol' day~
Glad you're enjoying the "bird watching." I only ever see cardinals and the occasional woodpecker- who had better stay out of my yard. He has pecked away huge holes in our wood siding. Oh, and the buzzards should be making their annual appearance soon in the woods behind us. Those guys are UGLY!

Looks like it is pretty windy where she is today. Thanks for the link--I will keep it up so I can watch today.

Sounds like your March is coming in like a lion or a bear maybe. LOL! I think that is wonderful that you can watch the eagles. Have a safe weekend.

Hi Ernestine,
I find that through this blog, I have so many more people to pray for. Sometimes it is hard to focus on blessings when the storm is going on. So glad that you are safe. Curious about your new project.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for reading. Those buzzards are ugly, but they can be very interesting to watch. Every day at 5pm... buzzards go to perch on the water tower in town...in good weather. They circle around and then land on the little railing. We watched them all the time the Grotto was being built. You could count on them to make an appearance at approximately the same time each day.

Hi Britt...I would be interested in what birds you have in Norway? Do you have many of the same birds as we do?
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment.

Hi Balisha.

I tried your link but the video would not load. So I didn't get to watch the eagles.
