A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Spring is On the Way

A walk around the yard, yesterday before the snow, was so good for me. I enjoyed being outside and poking around...looking for Spring. I found it in many places. I have bulbs planted on three sides of the house. I like to plant bulbs that will bloom early to mid season. I have found that the ones that bloom later...sometimes get too much heat and don't last long. This walk gave me a chance to check out the mulch too. It doesn't look like we will have to put any mulch around this year. We had a lawn service mulch the beds last year and it still looks good. While I was looking around, I saw the red bellied woodpecker for the first time this year. I love these big birds. They come to the feeder and move up and down the tree like circus performers.
I checked out the sedums in the strawberry jar and pots in the garage. They are still green and haven't been watered all winter. I gave them a hand shake of water as I passed by them. I replanted some of the holes last year and they look like they will be all right. The ones outside look much the same. I put them in the garage so that the pots wouldn't crack and break.
It snowed during the night...just enough to cover the ground...about an inch and a half. It was gone by this afternoon. My kind of snow! This has been a most unusual winter. I see people sporting spring jackets...kids playing in sweatshirts... and the beginning of the flu and cold season. Several in my family have been sick. Joe and I had a round of it just a couple of weeks ago. I just noticed that little daffodil buds are sticking up through the foliage in the bottom picture. A friend up the road emailed that her first snowdrops are blooming. Spring is on the way.

I hope you are right and spring is on the way. However, I remember a blizzard in March so we'll see.

Also, on the 20th, I did post a picture of the Tom Thumb wedding.

Hi Marlu...I just visited your blog and saw that very sweet picture. I have never seen a Tom Thumb wedding picture from our era. You must have loved getting all dressed up like that.
