A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Look What's blooming At My House!

Double "Nymph" brings an almost rose-like shape to double amaryllis hybrids. Soft pink striping on snow white. Magnificent!

That's the description at American Meadows. I planted this a couple of years ago and it was a very short amaryllis. This year it grew taller, but not as tall as some. It started out in the basement and when the bud started growing, I brought it up into the warm house. It waited awhile then started it's growth.I thought it might bloom for Valentine's Day, but not this year. There is a second bud starting at the base of this plant. I bought it at the end of the year that year... when they had their half price sale. It has bloomed for three years...quite a bargain I would say.
I have a couple more starting out down there...I may have blooms going until it's time to plant outside this year.

Beautiful!

I ended up tossing the one I bought at Home Depot. It never grew and one day I noticed it was full of bugs...into the garbage it went. Maybe I will try again next year.

I love blooming flowers inside in the winter. My mother used to always get me an Amaryllis for Christmas each year. It was such a nice surprise to take away the February blahs!
